Is 200 miles enough?

Mercedes has yet to confirm official EPA ratings of the EQ C range, but early reports are saying that we could see a range as low as 200 miles. With this number being so far below what's offered by the I Pace or E-Tron, do you think this will hurt consumer interest in Mercs first electric SUV?

You should do your own calculation because at the end of the day how much is enough depends on you. I know people who both find current EV's to be enough and at the same time to be not enough.

I feel like 200 miles is plenty for the average commuter, but you risk staying competitive by offering less than your competitors. If this number ends up being true, they may have to beat Audi and Jaguar on starting MSRP.

by todays standards going below 200 or even 250 is a gamble, already other car makers are aiming for higher and preparing for it as the 2020's roll around.

A premium electric shouldn't be offering less range than what's found on several year old entry level models (Bolt). Nothing has been confirmed yet by Merc, but there are probably too far along in development to make any significant changes.

a lot of reports have come out from various car makers stating their targets, quote often it ranges from 300-350 and as high as 400... all within the next 2-4 years.

It must have come down to profitability on the EQ C, and around 250 miles must be where they see the best margins. We know the technology is already there to go further, but they'll have to wait for production costs to decrease.

Still better than older and debunked reports that suggested it would be right around 200 miles. Also lets not forget that sometimes real world mileage ends up being higher. Rarely will car makers ever let official numbers out so soon with competition also fighting to take top spot. Over 300 miles is what i'd like to see.

Rarely if ever is the range of an EV greater than what the EPA/WLTP outlines. Don't forget that you will also see a fairly significant drop off in the winter. Unless you're interesting in hypermiling, but that's not the most enjoyable way to commute.
