...fitment of 21in wheels with an aerodynamically optimised spoke design.

From reading this "Mercedes EQ concept - first ride" article, I found that EQ is going to have 21in wheels. What do you guys think about the wheel size, should it be smaller or 21in is just right? As I know, wheel size has an influence on range per charge. For instance, if you built Tesla model S with 19" wheels on you will get 572km range per charge, whereas 21" wheels have 547km.

Not sure I'd change the tires from factory because they're designed specifically for electric vehicles; quiet, durable, good handling.

That's true, but my question is how does the size of wheels affect the range per charge of a vehicle? I just don't understand this connection.

I would be more concerned about how that wheel size and tire on it contributes or takes away from range along with what material it will be made out of, the less rotating mass we can have the better.
Partial carbon fiber wheels should be up for consideration.
