After 1 week my 580 EQS gave a warning that there was a problem with the rear axle and simply stopped in the middle of the road ( thankfully going at very slow speed just near my home). It refused to restart even after turning off and on again. Had to be towed. Anyone experienced this ?
Prior to this be tablet in the back refused to work and the dashboard had to be reconfigured.

I bought my 2022 MB EQS 580 in late July. The next day after eating lunch out, it would not start. (I had spent a few hours the night before playing in the car trying to learn how the MBUX operates.) It was towed into the dealer & was there just over a week before I got it back. 10 days later I took it to have the windows tented. I picked it up afterwards then stopped at the bank and then it would not start once again… towed back to the dealer. This time it took over 3 weeks to “fix”. Supposedly the dealer had to constantly wait for the technicians in Germany to advise its repair. A control unit was replaced along with cables and reloaded software. Then three weeks later on the way home from work I stopped at Costco… and the car would not start again! This time I had purchased a lithium battery starter so I hooked it up to the 12 volt battery terminals under the front hood and it started up just fine. The next day I took it back to the dealer and that was a week ago, and they are still waiting to get advice again from the technicians in Germany in order to again “fix” it. I have complained to the dealer and threatened to start the Lemon Law process. It is just over 2 months old now! The dealer is talking with MB and they are deciding on buying my car back from me… waiting to here at what price. At my request they are placing an identical build order to make me a 2023 EQS 580 which I hope to receive in 4 months. I love the car and want the car, but it has to work and start without fail. I’m searching to see if this is an isolated issue or are many others having the same issue? The high voltage battery should keep the 12 volt battery charged as needed but that does not always happen obviously. I look forward to hearing comments and especially knowing if this is an on going issue. -Mark C.

An update… Today my service advisor at the dealer says Mercedes is aware of this issue. So if the car does not start it should be powered off for 15 minutes to let it reboot and then it should restart. He said a software update is in the works but not yet available.

Hi,
I took delivery of my EQS 450+ Exclusive Luxury a little over 3 weeks ago.
Everything was fine until Friday evening (2 days ago), when the car “bricked itself” for no apparent reason, when returning home and approaching my garage.
The car was totally immobile with many systems declaring themselves “inoperable” in a series of rolling warning notices on the driver display.
Despite leaving the car switched off several times for more than 15 minutes and then trying to start the car and put it in drive, it had not rebooted itself.
Mercedes Emergency Service came out yesterday morning and declared the ESP controller was not functioning, which apparently causes many other systems to shut down.
He tried a ‘hard reboot’ which means he opened the bonnet (using the secret bonnet/hood release), disconnected the 12v battery for a while, reconnected and the car was still dead.
It was then collected yesterday afternoon (which was quite an experience getting a 2.5 tonne car that would not move onto a recovery truck) and taken to the nearest MB EQ Specialist Service Centre.
I await the garage’s prognosis tomorrow with baited breath.
I have already put Mercedes and the Dealer on notice that I will reject the car if this problem is not permanently resolved quickly.
I will keep you posted.

Hi Tez1,

Got my EQS back today at about 5:00pm.
The MB Service Centre found that the ground cabling to the ESP pump and solenoids had come loose in two places, which caused a power failure to this extremely vital control kit.
Without this control system functioning the car went into shutdown as a self protection safety function.

This sort of raises the question of “how did this happen”?
Was it a faulty build process that was not picked up by quality checks?
I guess I may never find out what the root cause was.

Lucky for my wife and I, the failure happened at walking pace on my driveway, and not in the fast lane of a motorway.

I will be having a serious discussion with my dealer about how this could be allowed to get past safety & quality checks on a £125k car, and how they will restore my confidence to go forward with this vehicle !!!

I hope this is informative.
