Driving back from London on Sunday and a sort of clear motorway gave me time to scroll through some options and I tried the Energizing Package.

It's brilliant. Maybe will be short lived but have to say I loved the passive images, colours, sounds and chair effects.

Anyone else used it? Works very well with the larger screen. I don't know how long it will retain it's appeal but two days in it's still entertaining me :)

What do you think about the aroma "spritzer"?
Sore point .... was really looking forward to that and was told it would be included.

Now it turns out that no UK market cars have it. The excuse I was given was that it was something to do with the big hepa filter. Smelt less like a fragrance and more like BS to me. And sure enough, it was missing on delivery.

Another benefit of Brexit Britain. Do you have it there? Ironically the UK accessory catalog has the flacons and the one specifically for the EQS! ....

Yes another Mercedes vapourware marketing vision but lack of substance.

I just took a look at the EQS configurator here and If you select "Energizing Packet" which includes the "Air Balance", the configurator allows you to also select "Energizing Air Control" which includes the HEPA filter. No pop-up or warning appears suggesting that "Air Balance" would be taken away. Though, intuitively, it does make some sense to me that if you're ordering the HEPA for totually pure air, why would you want to pollute it with aroma. Anyway, when I'm able to order my EQE SUV, I will want both. I want the HEPA for allergy/asthma reasons, but would not mind a little aroma now and then, as I'm not allergic to perfumes, etc. Your experience will lead me to question the dealer extensively on this, as I really don't want to pay for a feature that's being cancelled out by yet another feature I'm paying for ;-)

Might be interpretation Scott .... the Hepa is standard and is the filter that fills the engine bay. I don't think you have any choice on that. And to be honest I think the excuse was BS from the dealer.

But there is a reason why the flacon/fragrance module cannot be had here on the island but can be elsewhere. Frustrating. But glad you can option it on yours.

Until replacement, it looks like I will have to keep hanging up that magic Fir Tree on the mirror :)

On the Hepa / filter side, the air filtration is absolutely first class. And it does really work. A few times we saw a bad diesel in front and you can see the the on-screen graphic change from green to red and measure the partical levels, but show an ultra clean cabin interior. is quite amazing.

But yes,100% question your dealer .... there are a LOT of half truths and poor knowledge circulating at dealer level. Nice guys but not always well briefed with accurate data is my experience.

I have the fragrance system but I have not even installed the included cartridge (replacement ones are like 70Eur!!) as wife is sensitive to perfumes and I like the smell of lether and plastic.

I have been told that there are two air improvement systems in the EU. With Premium plus you get the fragrance and ionization. The huge HEPA that occupies the whole front bay is option in the EU.

It's an option? You surprise me Robert. OK maybe that's were the issue arises. And in fairness fits a little more with the dealer explanation .... but an explanation at handover day not the weeks or months before. Interesting. Mine is the 450+ Exec Lux model .... I didn't realise that could make a difference.

Certainly the Hepa and partical monitoring and filtering is very good and more valuable. But I would have liked both.

You right, the flacon's are outrageous money.

Had a look at the German configurator and they seems to have deleted the fragrance system for -23.

They have "Energizing air control plus" as option and it's not included in the Premium Plus package.

I guess that also adds some credibility to the UK dealer comments in fairness. I'm not a guy prone to being upset or outraged about stuff, quite the reverse, but it does tick me off some why car manufacturers (not just MB, Audi equally as bad) promote products and systems that they then deny anyone the option to buy?

So far with this model its, the 22kw port, the 22kw MB wall charger, the fragrance flacon, comfort close, .... soft close was never an option in fairness. Also the gesture control I believe is there but not operating in the manner the MB marketing materials illustrate.

If the large HEPA is an option in other markets (think it is standard here) then I'd really recommend that one. It struck me as unimportant originally but having seen it at work, it's very good. You literally can see a bus go by with a dirty exhaust, the intake goes red, and lets you know the particle count if you tap on it .... is very good.

Totally agree! I really hate when they promote things you can't even buy. I have the same situation with Digital Light and 10deg rear steering that was supposed to be a app upgrade. 😡

I noticed today on the Mercedes Me app that rear wheel 4.5 degree steering is there for what seems like an outrageous price of 480 SEK/month (~50 USD). I don't know if this can be totally avoided by those who purchased the option with the car or not. No mention of 10 degrees in Mercedes Me. The configurator for the EQE SUV, which I hope to buy, became available today in Sweden and there was no mention of rear wheel steering at all in the options. I have asked the dealer, but I suspect if I want it, it will be by subscription only. While I would find it useful, I don't think I would find it useful enough to justify this level of monthly cost. There was no mention of digital projection headlights either, which are an option on the EQE Sedan. Disappointing.

Rear steer was a package inclusion on the UK model Scott. Also don't underestimate it if you can get it included, it's very good. I was also dubious about it but once used, you will not want to go back. It makes a 5.3 meter car feel like a Nissan Micra ... in a good way :)

Again in fairness, the projection lights are very good. They take a while to understand then suddenly you get it. These were also a package inclusion on the Exe Lux here. We do not get the symbol projections here on the Brexit island!!! I think these are enabled in Germany but not here and no indication that they will be. But the automatic main / dip and ultra beam with the corner projection is very good.

On the negative side, I find an error message on the light function every time I fire the car up. I'm not sure it's a problem or a setting but it's reported to the dealer. Also on the negative, I find the illumination of road signs very poor. maybe it's just me but I took the wrong turning twice at Beaconsfield services last week .... am option I've done hundreds of times but followed the nav (unusual) and I simply could not see the mid height signs. Not entirely sure if it's the illumination or that I was using the nav and augmented directions too much ... a reflection that it's not a bad system. I never used nav systems before this thing.

I was too quick to post! The Digital Projection Lights and 10 degree rear-wheel steering appeared the next day. (The only way to get the lights is with what's locally called "Premium Plus Pack" - but I wanted that anyway. So, I'm very happy in the end.
