Morning all, anyone seen their Hyperscreen get all festive this morning?

I have snow and hats and all sorts of stuff across mine. Against my better judgement, it made me laugh. And the Grandson thought it was ace .... as he went to school with his elf hat on :)

You have the hyperscreen too! Am jealous not the right car for me at all but an EQC size with a hyperscreen would be a very attractive proposition. Though wafting along in an S class does appeal.

It was a surprise to end up at EQS as well Parkwood. :)

My car life splits into 4 distinct phases. The first, the pre and during Uni phase full of Mini's, Escort Mk1's and 2's .... all rough and ready self maintained ones. Then the company car phase, starting off unusually young in fact (about 21/22) with a Ford Sierra Chasseur estate, a bunch of similar tin can cars for a few years and then as career progressed, a number of 5 series, E class, then 7 series and S class and odd top insane top end Volvo's and Saabs. Then a change of taxation here and the change to 'own cars' which saw a very enjoyable few years with base model self maintained very old high mile Peugeots and Nissans. Which we still have and use for work and projects.

And then the EV world called at last! The wife had always objected to S class and 7 series and saw them as "same old company cars" and "the sort of car that picks you up at the airport" ... i.e all very nice but way too corporate. She had a point looking back.

The EQS came after a horrible attempt at buying an Hyundai Ioniq 5 and an Audi GT .... the Ioniq never got to an order due to lousy CS locally and the Audi become an order cancelled after 6 months of atrocious CS. To my astonishment, I showed the EQS to the wife and she went "hmmm, it looks nice" .... to say I was amazed would be an understatement. I showed it to her having genuinely no interest in anything after the depressing experience with Audi. I've had better CS and purchase experience at Aldi buying a tin of beans! Dreadful beyond belief. But I did love the car and saw zero that flicked the lights on. This thing came from left field having never been a great fan of anything Mercedes, it was just a work thing, a very nice work thing but all the same, a tool.

Having now got it, I have to admit to having been in the right place at the right time and made the right decision. A rare thing. Something truly different, genuinely improved over ICE and previous 'sock change' cars. And something more evolved (to my mind) than the first gen EV's that whilst having broken incredible ground, still gave the impression of being gen 1 products. Will get shot to pieces for this but I'm thinking Tesla etc. The EQS just looked overall well put together with thought and attention. And different enough to be different without being odd. Unlike the Serria :) But with a short list of things to improve and adjust for sure.

And just thinking out loud, although there are a few bits that frustrate and disappoint, the things that are not quite perfect or I'm having to learn, are in reality, part of the process and the fun of it .... like buying a decent new bit of hifi, it takes a little time to get into it.

Congratulations on getting your new car. Yes, I got the seasonal change on the hyper screen a couple of days ago.
