DISAPPOINTED!

Hello,

As per the title - having taken delivery of my new Premium Plus (UK), I'm truly disappointed to see the number options which are missing compared to those who received their vehicles in circa 2020.

No Burmester Audio
No Heated Steering Wheel
No Wireless Charging
No Engine Cover
No Massage Seats
No Augmented Reality

And this is just from what I can find so far. With the array of spec sheets out there, before purchasing i had clearly read one which was out dated and came with some of the features above.

For what is a lovely car, it's an absolute shame to know that another EQC PP which is older has some many more features.

As i only took delivery of the car last week, I assume there's nothing i can do about it (with the exception of returning it as i do really like the car)?

No sadly not and I was on a promise of the AR being retro installed and in fact have never received it and never will. For whatever reason Mercedes have neglected the EQC in favour of the new top end EQE and EQS who have been prioritised for parts. plus looking at the prices there is a huge discrepancy and the EQC costs much less in comparison certainly here in France although it is still eye wateringly expensive. I was talking to my contact yesterday and the replacement for the EQC for the forseeable future is the EQE SUV. Someone posted that there were indications the EQC will cease production in May as well which will be when the EQE SUV will hopefully be on stream. Am not happy as I do not particularly want a car built in the States the ML and GLE have not always been the best for QS the ML in particular had a lot of issues.
Mercedes have said they want to go back up market and the current pricing EQ would certainly indicate that if they are not careful they will price themselves out of the market of course!
I totally get your frustration and I think Mercedes have lost a lot of customer goodwill which they may well regret at a future date. The basics of the car are great though and I would try to put the lack of some of the toys behind you and enjoy what you do have. My car has no engine cover and no AR but the other items Burmester is good but if the audio system sounds ok then do not loose sleep over it. We first went to Burmester in a c class which had a dreadful stock system but since then on test cars without burmester the stock systems have sounded quite good. You never see the lack of engine cover apart from when you top up the lave glacé so it is nothing really.
For what it is worth I wanted to go electric and the EQC was the only model available, I moved from a well specced e class estate and the EQC felt a drop down a class but now I am totally satisfied with the car even the black piano trim and am seriously wondering if I want to change before the new EQC comes out whenever that will be (probably when they finally do an EQC saloon which will not be on the same electric architecture as the e/s class. So stick with it and you may well find you are fully satisfied😉

Thanks for your response.

I really like the car and will of course live with it. Just can't help but feel a little short changed when you compare what's missing to what the car should actually have!

Would be useful if they atleast offered a way to retrofit any missing kit at a later date but i'm probably asking for too much! :)

Your list of disappointments is not EV specific. I will interested to see if your list gets expanded once you drive the car for a few months. I am on my third EV since 2019 and each one has been a source of some disappointments. As you gain more experience with EVs I think you will find that your expectations bar is set higher, especially once you can imagine improvements seemingly overlooked by the manufacturers.

In this case the OP issue is with the fact the EQC was originally sold with more extras then it now is things like the upgraded burmester sound system and the augmented reality for the navigation system.people are rightly quite disappointed that these benefits which populate all the reviews are no longer installed in the new cars being delivered. In terms of the car being an EV I think that is neither here nor there any car where you expected some of the extra facilities and it is delivered without with no possibility of upgrade would be disappointing. Mercedes have disappointed a lot of people with the detrimming of the EQC especially as many ordered a long time ago when such facilities were still being listed as part of the package.
in terms of it being an EV I cannot fault mine and would never consider returning to an ICE car.

This maybe a dumb question because I have never been in the situation that what was ordered vs delivered didn't match. But do you not have the right to refuse delivery if you ordered a car with Burmester Audio, Heated Steering Wheel, Wireless Charging, Engine Cover, Massage Seats and Augmented Reality EQC. Or are the consumer laws different in the UK to other countries like here in The Netherlands or by old home stomping ground Australia. Surely there is a contract breach there. I get the fact COVID and the chip shortage really messed with the supply chain but it does annoy me that the high end focus on S-CLASS / EQS and E-CLASS / EQE continue to get all the bells and whistles but the EQA and EQC get short changed

From memory there is usually something in the purchase contract enabling some change on the part of the manufacturer but i think yes you could reject in a very short timeframe. The difficulty is Mercedes have permanently de specced the EQC so you have what they offer or nothing.
