Hi (first post) , I picked up my EQC in December 2020 and after major hassle with BP Pulse / Chargemaster with my home charger, I've finally got to a point were I am charging successfully at home.
However I can't make any sense of scheduling a charge overnight through the BP Chargemaster app ?
Is this a Mercedes issue / specification problem ?
My elec is only 5p/KWh between 0030 and 0430 which is why I want to schedule a charge
I've read some older threads indicating this is a Mercedes decision.
If so, it's ridiculous - how are EV drivers to be encouraged to charge overnight - essential for taking load of the national grid ?!!!

My first post too!
I had exactly the same problem with my EO mini charger.
Mercedes me app and the EO app didn’t play nicely together at all.
I got on to EO about it and they upgraded/ updated the software (they were excellent by the way) and now I can schedule cheap overnight charging using the EO app, and set a max charge level via Mercedes me app (or in the car) and all works fine.

Why on earth the Mercedes software doesn’t have a schedule function is beyond me.
I plan to feed this back to MB.

I suggest contacting BP.

Have accepted the wall charger from Mercedes rather than get my electrician to install so will report back from a French perspective. I was assuming Mercedes me allowed the timing if not it seems it is the wall box but all of the French ones I have seen in my research seem very basic affairs with no interconnectivity. We do have a system here for the water heaters with in effect is an electrical mechanical switch in the consumer box which switches in as the low tariff comes on stream or you can override it if needed so I shall see if that is an alternative approach. Be a big surge though with a 3kw water tank and the car switching together 🤔

Good luck , I've had some limited success, painful progress tbh.

I am 6 weeks into the battle with BP to diagnose / resolve the smart function / overnight charging schedule. The charger has a mind of its own. It charges as and when it wants. I am told the charger is having connectivity issues which is causing the unit to start and stop charging (apparently its a software feature, if it loses signal it defaults to charging). The plan to resolve this is to add a manual timer clock. Not smart but if it means I can charge overnight between 00:30 and 04:30 i will be happy.

I have also contacted Mercedes and given them feedback regarding the lack of a charging schedule feature in car via MBUX or the mercedes me app. I am told its being investigated.

Once i get the manual timer clock added I will update the thread on whether it was a success.

It seems we’re having exactly the same battle. A bit like the battle between the Mercedes me app and the charge master app. I have recently had some success scheduling but it s far from perfect as the car charges then stops intermittently until the scheduled start. They have also suggested the manual timer but that seems very old school...however I will be very interested to hear about how you get on . Good luck.
On a different point I have to take my car in for a minor repair and the dealer mentioned it needs a ‘battery management software update’ which may be Unrelated but might fix some of this. We shall see. Thanks for posting as it’s nice to know I’m not the only one 👍

Very disappointed the car or Mercedes me do not control the charging times. As ever for every really high tech bit of kit mercedes has some really poor tech.I have been driving Mercedes since 2007 and was there when Mercedes me came out it has been a painful journey at times🙄my french supplier has been in contact and they will be doing an over the phone diagnostic this week and then the installation. I will incl on my list of questions how I programme the charge times. Will feed back the response but from what I can see of the boxes used mine will not have internet capability☹

Quick update. BP came and fitted the manual timer just over a week ago. It fits inside the fuse box that was installed with the charger. It works perfectly. The car is now charging each night during the off peak window 00:30-04:30. You can override it by pressing a button and the car will immediately start charging.
I know this isn’t smart and in 2021 this shouldn’t be happening but I plug in every night and it just works. I can live with this until BP release their new WiFi enabled charger.

Thanks for updating. It's good to know that's a solution. My charger is doing ok with the schedule although the car tends to want to over ride it. But on the whole i'm charging 0030-0430. Thanks again

The chargers used by Mercedes in France are made by Newmotion and looking at the pricing structure I cannot see mine will be a top of the range connected model. I anticipate that I will have a mechanical switch installed like the control on the hot water system standard figment here. It is being installed Weds afternoon so I shall report back. The deal covers a max 15m distance from the consumer box which by my measurement will just be enough, going to be interesting as my house is an old granite farmhouse with walls 1m thick though that is almost the norm here😉

Well the box is installed but not wired up. Nice looking thing but as feared totally basic so no ability to use the box to control charging🙄 electrician pointed out that all the PSA group bornes he does (Peugeot Citroen and Opel) have the ability which is very frustrating given the price of the Mercedes. Unfortunately his very long drill bit broke (1m long and I do not exaggerate) and he has to come back to finish making the connection of the cable to the consumer unit once he has been able to drill through the granite wall. But every cloud he will come back with a switch to operate the box on cheap rate electricity ( standard piece of kit used for hot water heating circuits here) which we will pay for separately. It is very disappointing that the Mercedes me app does not have what seems to me very basic functionalit but as I have said before I have been using Mercedes me since it first went live and I am not surprised. Have to say the quality of the box is impressive and the workmanship was top class. Access to drill through was not ideal which probably contributed to the drill breaking as Well as the thick granite stones he was trying to drill through.

Hi I hss as ve aready fed the same back to Merc - the more people that raise this issue they might actually add this function - I find it incredibly frustrating as I have a slightly older charging point ( installed it when I got my BMW hybrid) but it works so don’t want to spend the money changing it.

Well my installation is now complete with no control over timings😤chap came back wired up the charger but said he could not install a off peak control switch. Research seems to indicate that no one makes a 32 amp contactor jour nuit as they are called here. So I am stuck with the ridiculous position of having a 90k euro car that I have to manually control for cheap rate charging whilst I could have bought a Peugeot e2008 for considerably less and have had a wallbox with a control. Am going to get my electrician over to see if he has any thoughts on the way round it but it is quite a frustration. I will also contact Mercedes but I am wondering if the car would need some sort of hardware rather than just software to sort it out if that is a case then it will not be resolved in the lifetime i have the car. Will make me get rid of it ASAP if the new EQE has the facility.

Just seen that a forum member on my French group has posted this week that his sales rep for his EQA purchase says there will be an ability to set charge times on a forthcoming update to the app. We shall see😉

Having same problem with sporadic charging of my Mercedes A250e
Had BPChargermaster unit fitted and changed to a cheaper night Tariff. Set schedule for 00.30-04.30 but found that an hour after plugging my car "IN" it had charged on and off 4 times resulting in 1.5kWh of electricity being used.

Am going to a customer event organised by my dealer on Sat (go karting and bbq🙂) so shall try to get as much info as poss re any updates to the app to sort this issue out and shall bend a few ears as to how ridiculous it is not to have that facility. From a french perspective the 7pm return from work is already known to cause a huge load on the network and everyone plugging in their cars at the same time is going to cause more strain🙄
