I’ve had the EQA 250+ since October so can’t quote summer figures but In winter u’ll get 200miles max Maybe in a day with temperatures above normal 220. The other consideration is availability of public charging points which is currently poor & of those that are in place a high %age are faulty. And don’t think just because the charger
says 50kwh u’ll pull that thru. welcome to the world of EV….
Well we're not giving up the dreaded devil's juice just yet - my wife commutes about 12 miles each way to/from work and she's hoping that on some days she'll manage to get one of the 6 charging points at the NHS carpark where she works. Twice a week she has to travel between NHS sites and covers an additional 40 miles or so (business miles) and the other site has just built a brand new multi storey car park, although I've got no idea if they've put any charging points in - you'd like to think so, but not yet investigated whether they have.
She does travel around 170 miles (each way) to Cornwall roughly every other weekend to visit her elderly mum, but our current plan is to swap cars for those weekends and she can take my diesel Skoda Kodiaq, which will comfortably make it there and back on a single tank.
We're currently looking at getting a home charger installed, but I've got no knowledge of which is best and whether we want tethered or untethered. It will be going on an exterior wall next to the side door into our house, right next to where we park on our own drive. The only thing I have checked is that our house does have a 100A main fuse (next to the meter, which is external) and it's also a standard single phase supply. Looking at probably either Ohme or Pod Point - the only estimate I've had thus far is from Octopus who quoted around £1050 installed, but they'd need to do a proper site survey.
Anyway, sorry I digressed slightly from the original title of this thread, but we were hoping that occasionally she might manage to take the EQA to Cornwall. It certainly sounds like 170 miles is easily do-able, she'll just need to stop somewhere on the way down to get some charge, sufficient to get to her mum's house and back to the same charger I would think. It just means planning her journey a little more and anticipating a charging/coffee stop on the way, which she doesn't bother with at the moment.
