We ordered an EQA 250 back on the 26th June. At the time of ordering, we were advised it would be unlikely we’d receive the vehicle this year. Is anyone able to provide information on build and delivery details for Australian spec vehicle?

Since we ordered the vehicle we’ve had no communication from MB nor from the dealer. I also understand that here, the EQ vehicles are ordered directly through MB Australia rather than the dealer, which effectively only acts as an agent and that in the near future, this purchasing model will be extended to all MB vehicles.

If it is any help UK delivery times seem similar. I am in France and my dealer was talking about the changes coming for them re the new en ligne showrooms which I suspect will not be popular here. French people like relationships and are loyal customers if a supplier gets things right. They much prefer face to face dialogue.

Thanks for your response, although not what I wanted to hear. Only today I read that there is quite a bit of pushback from the MB dealers but, of course, they are over a barrel as the company is adamant that if a dealer doesn’t sign up, it will lose its franchise.

Greetings. Not so much as a peep from either MB (Aust) or the dealer. As I mentioned earlier, the arrangement in Australia for the EQ range of vehicles is that they are actually bought from MB with the dealer acting only as an agent. In practice, this seems to result in a bit of finger pointing when trying to get any info on the vehicle. In comparison, literally the day after we signed the contract in June, close friends signed up for a GLA from the same dealer. They received word about a week ago that their vehicle was on the water and should be delivered by Christmas. I’m also aware that at the time of ordering they were prepared to accept that they wouldn’t get all the features they would have liked (eg, HUD). We weren’t prepared to compromise on features and that decision is undoubtedly being impacted by the chip shortage.

Just heard this evening that our car has been slotted for a late December build. That being the case, we might see it here by the end of February. Fingers crossed. As yet, no suggestion of any missing options so fingers crossed. If this all comes to pass, it will be around 8 months from order to delivery

Out of the blue, yesterday I received a call from the dealer advising that our car was here in Melbourne and that we could probably take delivery within a week. Totally unexpected given the advice of only a week or so ago. We’re advised that from the paperwork they have, the car doesn’t appear to be missing anything but the dealer can’t be sure until they receive the car in the next few days & can check it over. Fingers crossed. Now all I’ve got to do is work out how to pay for it given that it’s about 3 months earlier than the previous advice suggested.

Update. On Tuesday of this week the salesman did a video link/walkaround to show us the car which we pick it up on Saturday. The invoice arrived this morning and it appears exactly as ordered. What was really interesting is that the build date was the 20th July 21, less than a month after we placed the order and yet we heard nothing at all - other than to expect a December build - until the phone call less than a week ago advising that the car was here in Melbourne. Onwards and upwards.

Picked it up this morning - exactly as ordered. Mind-blowing tech for an old fart like me but I’ll get there. Most impressed with the vehicle. First impressions only, but not surprisingly, it doesn’t have quite the feel and poise of my X3 3.0d on the road, but it‘s beautifully finished and appointed and a nice place to be. My wife (whose car it is) is over the moon.

Does it have the augmented reality on the navigation? I have the camera installed but the car was delivered without the augmented reality installed but it will be installed at some point🤔according to the dealer

Yes it does. Mind you, we’re still somewhat overwhelmed by the features. It will take us considerable time, I suspect, to get across all the car has to offer.
Glad to see you’re having fun in the new wheels. My EQA was ordered last November and the dealer has just advised that delivery will be late February. The delivery wait time may be dependent on what vehicle configurations have been pre ordered by MB Oz. Do you find the augmented reality display useful? Call me old school but I prefer to view my direction of travel the usual way. :)

We’re currently stupid enough to be in the UK because we decided that after 2&1/2 years without seeing the grandkids, we were making the trip so we haven’t had much exposure to the new car for the past month. That said, as much as we’re impressed by the car’s multitude of features, if it’s anything like my X3, we won’t use but a fraction of them. One thing which has surprised me though, is that we’ve got into the habit very quickly of just plugging it into the solar during the day and topping it up to the recommended 80% battery capacity. Short of an extra long trip, I can‘t see us using a commercial charging point - even those included in the purchase. I should add that we’re retirees, so there’s plenty of opportunities to charge during the day. By the way, I’m somewhat surprised at just how common electric vehicles are here in London. Teslas are everywhere, but just on our quite short school walk we pass 3 EQAs and even more EQCs.

Enjoy your trip and stay safe. As a fellow retiree I agree that home charging is the norm and after 4mths Inhave still not plugged into a commercial charger though I tried a free one at the supermarket. Interested in your comment re lotsmof EQC in London was in Paris early Dec and did not see any electric mercedes loads of PHEV e and c class lots of Tesla and Renault Zoe but not one EQC🤔
