EQB - is it worth getting such a de-specced version?

I've been researching the EQB and decided to go ahead with a AMG Line Launch Edition as the spec seem v good and premium. Just been told by the dealer that Mercedes aren't offering this anymore due to chip shortages.

The next level down the AMG premium seems v limited in spec.

e.g. Single option on interior trim - the red stitching is an odd colour to default all cars to!?
e.g. No option to add 360 cameras - I had a SEAT hire car in Spain which had this as default!
e.g. No option to add electric seats & memory settings - I'm 6ft + & my wife is 5ft4... so that'll be lots of manual seat adjustments
e.g. premium looking alloys with the multispoke design - yet they still use this in all nearly all the advertising images!

Now there's a warning on the MB site - so no comms in car!
Owing to supply shortages, availability of the communication module (LTE) for certain vehicles may be temporarily restricted. This situation particularly affects the Mercedes me connect services, including the emergency call system (eCall). Regularly updated information on this issue is available from Mercedes-Benz dealers.
Add in that Mercedes execution of apple & andriod car play is basic at best... as the screen is a small central square only of the larger screen... so that's a big draw back if there's no comms module.

So my Q for general comment... Is whether this is worth getting at all?

Seem we're paying a premium price for a car that really isnt that premium in it's interior quality / driving gadgets...

Any view on whether we should wait until they re-introduce the better specs? Any idea when this would be? If any one can share any additional info it'd be appreciated

Thanks!

Sorry posted by accident before I'd finished writing the entire post!
Two thoughts:

1) The supply chain warning for LTE is generic. Your dealer should have the latest guidance for your build.

2) Furthermore, the lack of LTE does not affect Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. In fact, if makes them more useful as without built-in LTE, the Mercedes Me app cannot communicate with the car. CarPlay or Android Auto use either wired USB or WiFi to connect to the car while the phone uses its internal LTE (or 5G) connection.

Yes agree carplay is more useful, but the mbux version of carplay is poor. The screen only occupies a narrow section in the centre, despite a large touchscreen.

Will ask on lte warning.

I can't speak for Apple CarPlay, but over in the Android world I think that is a limitation of the AndroidAuto app on the phone, more than anything MB have done - it's very picky about what screen aspect ratios it can deal with. A solution is in the works apparently, although I've not seen it yet.

Google’s new Android Auto interface works with any screen size
I was at the point of ordering a 350 EQB, spoke to sales person and he said "no Mercedes will not be bringing back the AMG Line Premium pack on the EQB" this from what I am aware is the one with all the premium features. Thanked him and walked away.

Has anyone had the same information or is this de-spect version only going to last till chip shortage is resolved?

It would not surprise me if that that limitation is market specific, unfortunately.

FWIW, I’m in the USA and we have been waiting for MB to open the order book and that finally happened this week and I was able to order a very loaded 350 for production in mid-August, and yes, this August. I’m gonna suspect that MB might be hoarding production slots and specific options for a successful market launch here.

We live in Honolulu and ordered our EQB 300 on March 6, 2022. We took delivery yesterday Sept. 19th. We love it so far but it did come with some surprises ie. Due to chip shortage we did not get electric seats which is a real bummer, we did not order a panoramic roof but it came with one and we did not order heated seats and it came with heated seats. It also had a huge $9995 dealer market added price increase. Of course we did get to negoitate but the buying experience was not an enjoyable one for us. It is a sweet vehicle though and the Rose Gold color is real pretty.

Humm. Sounds like the salesperson was not up to speed on the word "Premium pack". On 5th September, I took delivery of an EQB 300 4MATIC AMG Line Premium vehicle. Note the wording of the vehicle I purchased.

Frankly, no. The main appeal to this vehicle is comfort and luxury with EV that you don’t see in many EVs . Some of it is compromised from what you describe. So strong no, unless the dealer is slashing the price drastically (I doubt they would).
There are some that consider this Mercedes for poor people, so I dont think you will have a problem despeccing it. This car is about practicality, and with a bit more comfort than the competition, plus a couple of stars. I ordered mine in May, and the salesman adviced to not tick of options that included 360 camera, electric seats and those really nice 20" rims if I wanted to drive it this year. AMG was anyway €3000 more expensive here in Norway, and could not be ordered with a heated steering wheel, so that was a easy choice for my cold fingers. So this is the situation right now, with war, covid in china and near recession elsewhere, other car manufacturers also struggle...
