Having the EQC since Oct 2020, these things annoy me!

  • wind noise coming through front driver and passenger windows when traveling anything over 50mph
  • the ear drum popping oscillating effect if you drive anything over 30mph with one of the rear windows fully down
  • the inconstant brake peddle feel. I am convinced MB have an issue with this and will start a recall. (see other thread) I have zero confidence in bringing the car to a halt in a safe and controlled manner sometimes.
  • regen disconnecting every time you are using it to slow the car and the car goes over a pot hole
  • power being cut every time you are accelerating and go over a pot hole
  • the doors open interior light enable/disable button on the roof console that if you turn it off has an annoying red light which completely distracts in the corner of your eye especially at night
  • the positioning of the charging socket on the drivers side that means for me I have to run my home charging cable from the passenger side, across under the rear of the car which ALWAYS triggers the sensor and causes the boot to open!
  • the boot not opening when i try to use the sensor with my foot!!!
  • the in-lane assist which you cant permanently disable. It can catch you off guard sometimes and when it pulls you back into lane it also brakes too which can be scary when not expecting it.
  • the auto braking that can beep for no particular reason distracting you to look at the dashboard to see what the hell is going on
  • the fact that it doesnt like going round corners
  • the mercedes me app not having a charge scheduling option so when my home charging unit is set to provide power between 00:30-04:30, if i plug in any time before or after these times my iPhone pings me a mercedes me charing error notification every 12 mins annoying minutes. (sent mercedes me app developers a request to add this simple functionality several times to no avail).
  • the battery charging progress not being constantly present on the display when charging and sitting in the car.
  • range...i think we can all relate to this. its just not good enough for a mb branded car unfortunately, but good attempt!
  • being beaten off the lights by a model 3!

Other than that the car is great.

Anyone else relate?

Re windows check you are not inadvertently driving with them just a tad open which can be caused by hitting the window opening button as you climb in the car. I have noticed this in my e class. Partner has a tendency I do not know how to hit the buttons in such a way that when you go to fully close the windows they close and then drop down a couple of mm. Check from outside and you can see it happen. I only noticed when the car seemed to suffer from wind noise (it has the acoustic pack like the eqc). i am waiting delivery of mine but have to say the french do not seem to consider range is bad from what I can see on their forums. They obsess about whether the consumption matches expectations but most are getting near or around the published figs from Mercedes which will mean they are getting the range. The general opinion seems to be around 300km in cold weather 400km in summer Is what to expect and is what is being delivered. Re charging I am awaiting my wallbox which is being installed on the 26th and am hoping it will be able to set the charging times. The french also moan about not being able to set it from the car or Mercedes me app. Beeping from the car identifying objects close by is something the c and e suffer Ron as well and I suspect it will always be present by simple virtue of the sensors reacting. Yes I noted the lane assist is now screen not button controlled. I use it all the time so cannot say if the button system means it stays off will have a look if I remember😉 Going over potholes problems sound like an issue though there are potholes and there are U.K. potholes of course🤣 fortunately the roads here are good in terms of potholes bad in terms of noisy surface dressing sadly but I would have a chat with your garage. The EQC is not my ideal car that would be my current e estate with an all electric engine but it is the only realistic option available to me at the moment but I will only be keeping it for 18mths or so until the EQE is out if the saloon is suitable or I will wait for the replacement or the EQE SUV but am not too keen as it is going to be built in the USA would rather have a european car.

I’m so fortunate that I just bought an EQC have so far only driven 1000 km so I would not call myself a subject matter expert. Although my last car was a Tesla M3 and I can tell that was absolutely insane noisy in the cabin in regards to the EQC, I actually turn down the music today for just enjoying the silence of the EQC when I’m driving. I haven’t had any inconsistent issue with the brakes as well, though is not hard as in a Tesla, sport cars or non-SUV cars which might feel “overreactive” it actually feels like braking in a Range Rover or GLS.
I haven’t experience any system reset other than it tends to forget my wife’s tag to her telephone number when using “Hey Mercedes” ( I don’t know if thats good or bad 😁)
Range though is not really a problem for me I only drive approx. 100 km a day so I can easy charge on the slow charger at 3kw without an issue, and I have between 17 - 21 kWh/100 in 12 degree Celsius and in different condition like highways and country roads. So I’m fairly happy with it

But some of the other issues sounds like the system is unstable as it reset every time you hit a pothole?
I do get annoyed of one small feature (bug), I have to set the recuperation mode each time i start the car I would like it to be possible to set a default of that setting, as I’m using D- for the most of the time.

Btw I’m from Denmark 🇩🇰

Not so much regen resets when you hit the pot hole but it will kick off and then kick back in after the pot hole. if you are using the regen as your braking during that time and it kicks off you then then need to jump on the brakes especially if you have got use to judging the braking distances with regen which is kinda cool not having to use the actual brakes until the last second.

Agreed, would very much like a last driven setting that allows the car to start with whatever settings you left it in last.

Had a GLE before, so comprising on the space element with the EQC so hoping they bring out the EQE soon.

Interesting clarification thank you. It would seem the car registers the change of traction from the momentary loss of grip when hitting the pothole. That seems a difficult problem to counter they would need to have some sort of pothole identifier though of course there is some fancy systems in the S class for reading the road ahead and adjusting the air suspension. re wind noise there has been discussion on an American forum re the same issue in the e class and the fact adjustment to the door seals and bottom window seal can cure it. Again might be an idea to have the garage have a look if the windows are closing tight. I am working my way through the french forum And if I see anything re the braking issue I will report back😉

I think this is more than acceptable, Probably you pay more attention to this because there is no other noise. Was sitting in a Tesla 3 lately and for me the EQC is having less noise

Yes, Every car I drove had this issue.

It is strange in the beginning but now after +20000 km it feels normal.

Ye, same issue. I did not know until I came across this I had the function to open boot with foot :)

Yes, annoying. When i put in my cable it opens. If i want to open the boot it never works.

This already saved me. So i think this is a good function

I think you can change the sensitivity, but yes it is very sensitive.

Agreed, Mercedes knows building good cars but they suck at the software. The app's are very buggy

Yes, compared to the E-tron it is very similar even slightly better.
  • being beaten off the lights by a model 3!
:) For me it the acceleration is still fast enough

Love the car - but the massive headache / let down is the scheduling point you make. What a joke - it's really spoilt the experience of going all electric for the first time.
I'm the only one in the family who can master the boot opening with my foot !

Does anybody know if the boot opening with foot is standard? I've tried kicking around a couple of times and thought thay ok, I dont have that option.

Was also a bit amazed that you need to unlock the doors from the remote, the car does not recognize the key and allow the door to be opened without unlocking. I need to order the list of options that I have ..

No it is not standard in France but then what is standard in France or the UK is not always the same either. You can check if you have it by using one of the numerous vin checkers they list the options the car was built with. I ahve used this one successfully

The solution I found is to use a kicking action, under the rear bumper, not sweeping, don't touch the car, and then take one step backwards. Since trying this I have been 100% successful, opening and closing. Try it.

I find it very reliable and yes the action is a kick forward and then bring your foot back (to the front of the car) in the centre not a kick or wave side to side. Also you do need the key to be within the metre range and it can get confused if driver a opens the door but you arrive with a key as well to close the boot and driver a is now out of range.overall it works very well for me.

Going back to the original poster's list of annoyances, and subsequent comments from other posters, would any EQC owners on here not chose the EQC if they knew what they know now having owned the car for a period of time?

I was not entirely happy getting one as I felt it was a class below my top of the range e class estate and had lots of whinges of what I did not like. Now you could not pay me to go back to the e which speaks volumes. Not quite what you asked but thought I would record my views🇫😉

Thanks and useful to hear. My question was a leading one. I have an EQC on order, built actually now and MB ready to deliver but due to reduced spec. and having not been told etc. they have given me the option to take it or leave it. Finding that all the research I did back middle of last year when I made the decision to go with it; I am doing again now ! Mine is a long lease and so hesitating a bit now as the EV market moving so fast.

What bits are missing? How important are they to you? How long is the lease by the way. I have a 37th month with option to change at no cost from 18 which I thought I would do and move back to an e class EQE but now I think I will keep the EQC the full term.
What would be the alternative is also another question to consider and also could you get an option on the lease to change earlier? Missing MBUX augmented reality is not a deal breaker for me nor the parallel parking issue which I never used before anyway. As they say what you do not have you do not miss. It really is a lovely car to drive and travel in in fact I think the best of my 5 mercedes I have owned despite it being an SUV which I am not a great fan of😉

The bits are not important really, it was more the principle that I was not told and only found out off the back of my own enquiries. Also I made a spec decision based on the spec advertised and I might not have made that choice if these things were not included. Fair enough though they have given me the option to take it or leave it and been very responsive to queries. The stuff missing are all the bits discussed on other threads like surround sound, AR sat nav, wireless charging, parking I think. The lease would be 4 yrs which in hindsight is a long time in a rapidly growing market. Good to hear you like the EQC though.
