I think the assumption is that Mercedes-Benz owners have "deep pockets".Thank you, Boerboel & LA EQE. Hopefully it will be the same here. I agree, at least from pictures, it seems bulky.
Is that because you unlock with a SmartPhone? I have seen a pile of conflicting information out there on this. What's your experience? Is there any way to the start the car without the fob/smarkey? Via Smartphone? Via fingerprint??I keep forgetting it.
It is bulky and has some weight to it. I actually like itThank you, Boerboel & LA EQE. Hopefully it will be the same here. I agree, at least from pictures, it seems bulky.
I am getting more used to MB's startup.I keep forgetting it. Also, when I come back with it and sit down, I switch to drive and nothing happens... since I also forget to press the On/Off button.... It will take a while to forget Tesla's routine.
If the question is about EQE, I think you need to have the key with you to start it. For Tesla, it's enough to have your phone, it uses bluetooth to connect. Is that because you unlock with a SmartPhone? I have seen a pile of conflicting information out there on this. Try switching between an EQE that has an On/Off button in a traditional location and the gear selected on a stalk and a Porsche Taycan that has the Parking Brake button where the On/Off usually is, the On/Off on the LEFT of the steering wheel, and the gear selector next the the Parking Brake. Oh… and the Taycan starts when you close the door and the MB needs the button. 😆 6 weeks of ownership of the EQE and a month with the Taycan and I still am not 100% sure on it.I am getting more used to MB's startup.
😆 I thought it was just me. Good news we are ditching our Model S this summer for a EQS for my other half, then it will be all the same (or close) with the EQS and the my EQE SUV. My friend has a Taycan… loves it. My days of dropping down into a car are over 😆Try switching between an EQE that has an On/Off button in a traditional location and the gear selected on a stalk and a Porsche Taycan that has the Parking Brake button where the On/Off usually is, the On/Off on the LEFT of the steering wheel, and the gear selector next the the Parking Brake. BMW has its wiper stalk on the right, and for Mercedes, it's on the left.Try switching between an EQE that has an On/Off button in a traditional location and the gear selected on a stalk and a Porsche Taycan that has the Parking Brake button where the On/Off usually is, the On/Off on the LEFT of the steering wheel, and the gear selector next the the Parking Brake. For some fun with your mind, spend a week driving a manual trans around England and then fly home to your car parked at the airport! "Normal" never felt so odd before.BMW has its wiper stalk on the right, and for Mercedes, it's on the left.
Always got it confused when I switch cars![]()
When we went to Dublin in 2019, I considered getting a rental but I opted against for local pedestrians' sake. I just know that when I'm walking around in locales that drive on the left, I always look the wrong way no matter how hard I try.For some fun with your mind, spend a week driving a manual trans around England and then fly home to your car parked at the airport! All that is quite fun and challenging to the senses at first, and then add in shifting with the left hand but with the same pattern.During my first car rental experience in England, I realized only after the fact that I had gone around my first traffic circle the WRONG way. Fortunately, it was in a rural area and no other cars were present!
