Hi,
I bought the EQS recently and I love the drive and experience, my only moan - the standard model - which still costs a pretty penny, doesnt have the audio entertainment capability to use the sounds of silver waves and vivid flux, I am assuming this isnt possible as the standard EQS doesnt have the surround sound system but does anyone if this is possible to add at some point or a way to add this?

I think the answer is unfortunately no. That said, there are quite a few payable software options that you can open up using the Mercedes Me app. one is for the 10 degree rear wheel steer. Another (one I want) allows the in built dash cam system to record journeys to the SD. There were others but I do not recall the sounds being on the list. Worth a look though.

Is very odd John. Mercedes seem be changing their options and products on EQS by the day.

Here are some screen shots from the app. These are not as of now, they were from end of May when asking a few questions to my dealer. They do show the rear wheel steer. It is not described in the heading as 10 degree. Maybe that's were the confusion is sorry .... in my description.

Images are in the wrong order sorry. My question to the dealer was to ensure auto park was included. There was debate as to whether it was or not but I think is now. clarified.

Was also debate as to whether one or two other options were 'upgrade payable' or included with the car. This was on the 450+ Exclusive Lux. It turned out that they are 'supposedly' included with the car. And only need paying for in this manner after the 3rd year. Let's see, I'm not entirely convinced.

Mercedes options (with car and those that can be added after) seem to change every day. Add to this the fact that dealers have poor knowledge (by their own admission when pressed) and then you and I .... the poor consumer is doomed to be disappointed. Even if doing our homework well. The only way to ensure a solid expectation is indeed to share experiences here .... good or bad as they may be.

Here is hoping they will do a new push soon but today very little by the looks of it, hopefully as time progresses, they will provide more friendly add ons we can buy, crazy for a £100k car, I am also confused on the Mercedes Me, the letter and reg stated 12 months is included but I have seen 3 years also mentioned, one for another time, still a beautiful car and drive!!!

I have the 'base' model and car honestly say that it has the worst wound system in a car.. ever! It is truly awful!

I'm no audiophile and can only compare it to the standard radio systems in a 2014 Volvo XC90, a 2011 Ford S-Max, a 2005 C270 CDi and a 1994 BMW 525i. The EQS isn't a patch on any of these. Not even anywhere near. In fact, I'd say a direct and equally comparable sound would be from my dad's old 1984 Sierra 1.6L.

Hard to believe how Mercedes have allowed such a poor quality sound system be installed in a £100K+ car.

If likening these sound systems to personal music players of yore then the 2005 C270 was an iPod with some B&O headphones.. and the EQS is a version 1 Sony Walkman using a pair of headphones from the Argos budget range. It's that shockingly bad.

If you ever find out how to get vivid flux or silver waves through the audio then I'd suggest swapping the car out for one with a Burmester system beforehand.

I'm not kidding how bad it is or how disappointed I am with it. 99% of the time I just don't listen to anything. Still every cloud has a silver lining... the lease is up in 2 years 10 months and 3 weeks!!

thanks for that, I didnt find it that bad to be honest, not as good as the AUDI Bose system I had before for sure but its doable, keep counting the days eh...I had a Sierra and an Astra, Escort MK 2,3 etc and its defo better

A very similar motoring start for me as well John ..... after learning in a Mini Clubman Estate, it was MK2 Escort time, three of them (loved those things) and then ironically on to first company car ... a new red Sierra Estate. I remember saving to buy a Clarion Cassette player and some really good speakers. Took me ages to work for those. Bought from a car hifi place in Nottingham ..... and nearly as promptly stolen by some toe rag one night from our student place in Canning Circus. I can still feel the pain near 36 years later
