Federal Tax Credit?

810 Views 38 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  LA EQE
Since the MSRP for some Premium and Exclusive trims does not exceed $80,000, and they are assembled in the USA, the eligibility of the $7,500 federal tax credit should depend on the battery requirements ("critical minerals" and "battery components"). We know that the battery is also assembled in USA, but there is no information about where the components/minerals are coming from. Mercedes is not showing on the government web site that lists eligible vehicles, but it may be just because they are slow to react, and I could not find any discussion related to it, except early guesses that it may qualify based on MSRP and vehicle assembly. Does anyone have any additional information?

No, in this batch that came to dealerships around me there were mostly Premium trims and a few Exclusive, I snatched one of the exclusives before they got sold. No 4MATICs this time.... I would probably not get it anyway, I'm in FL, no snow.
Black on black in Florida is brave! I won't even do a black interior with any exterior in Nevada where we get into the hundred and teens for the Summer. As soon as I saw Lucid forced front black seats on everything, I immediately dropped them from my consideration. With an EV, preconditioning the interior or just leaving the AC on while in a store (for less than 50 minutes) will help, but cannot imagine bare legs in shorts on black leather around here.

I also have Black on Black but with Ventilated Seats so I can deal. Now if I can just get the dead ambient light fixed in the Turbo Vent I will be good.

I had a car with white interior and I didn't like it, to me black looks better.... luckily we get good AC and ventilated seats. As for the exterior, that's all they had, I don't really care much about color, and different (mostly unscientific) tests showed different results, from no to huge difference. Anyway, since I lease, I plan to return it after 2 years anyway and get that 1000 miles range EV that is always just a few years in the future....

You have a dead ambient light? I am yet to inspect most of the things... but I assume whatever is wrong they will fix it.

It's weird just the right front Turbo Vent ambient light is dead. Probably car just needs to be flashed or a wiring for it is not properly seated. Funny everything about this car is perfect except one little ambient light :) It goes to Dealer in about 30 min. Will report back.

You should have seen all the things they had to fix when I bought my new Tesla... I took several trips - dead line of pixels in the screen, trunk that won't close, misaligned front light fixture, external camera housing not seated properly, rubber seal sticking out, windshield installed a little skewed, wrinkles in a seat, scratched plastic on the side of a seat.....

I wasn't going to say anything but my Tesla MY was total garbage. Everything you said plus the my windshield has to be replaced and God it rattled like it was falling apart. I hated that car I was just waiting for the right EV to come out and I found it. I have someone who comes to my house and cleans our cars and he told me I was his 3rd client this week that dumped his Tesla for a MB. My business manager told I am one of several of his clients that are dumping their Tesla's for a MB.

Well this is MB forum, we can trash Tesla here :) Yeah, it's not really a high quality vehicle (M3/MY). It does have a few things going for it vs others at similar price range if you can live with the issues, but going to a more luxury bracket (like we did) pretty much solves the problem.

I will say this it was fun to drive but that's it. Did I mention it road like a brick :ROFLMAO:
I am in Los Angeles no snow well except for a little this year :ROFLMAO: and I wanted RWD for the miles. Here is the surprise, mileage is way better than advertised and you will beat the 279 too. I have a lead foot and I am getting 328 on a full charge. :)
That's 546 km. The WLTP for the 500 in Europe is about 542km. Nice to see that it's really achievable!

I didn't even try to get better miles. I have seen even better in the forums one person is getting 368.

!?!! 368 miles with a 500 4Matic? Yippee!

350+ RWD but the 500 4Matic won't be far off. The only one that has a smaller battery is the 350 4Matic, 350+ and the 500 have the larger battery. Not sure why.
Heard that it is a different battery supplier, one is 90.6 and the other 89.0. Really not much difference.

Wouldn't make sense to put 89 in the 350+ and the 90.6 in the 4Matics? Seems odd. But I am very happy with my 350+.

If had read your post with more care, I would have seen you were talking about the 350+. Indeed, the 500 will be less. Hopefully not more than 10 miles less. I’ve seen 10 miles suggested in print somewhere. Maybe it was the order guide?
I too have difficulty appreciating why MB is using two different batteries, since they’re so close to each other in size. Most certainly adds complexity to manufacturing, inventories, documentation, repair, etc.
Looks like the Canadian market is getting the 89.0 (according to their website), and the US the other (according to their website), but may not be exclusively be the 90.6. Waiting to see what my order is delivered with.

I just got my car back from MB Dealer (after 10 years of dealing with Tesla BS Service I forgot what first class service was like 😳), the only issue with my car was this one little ambient light in the turbo vent… it wasn’t seated properly in the factory and they fixed it (Probably jiggled loose while I was driving).

I laughed when they told me, all I could think about was all the endless trips I made to Tesla Service to fix all the shoddy work from the factory. Windshield replacement, speakers that fell out (by the way they used superglue to fix), door panels that came off, seals missing, panel gaps so big you stick you finger in, wing doors that wouldn’t open and my personal favorite my new Model X front brakes wouldn’t engage so only rear brakes worked from the factory.

I will end on this positive note, Tesla did move the needle on EV adoption. MB is delivering amazing high quality EV’s. I will be buying a EQS for my honey this summer. :)

I bet whatever battery you get it will out perform the rated miles of km’s (is that right for Canada?).
