First official look at the EQ C

Now that Mercedes has finally pulled the veil on the EQ C, we can finally get a good look at the production model. Surprisingly it looks like a lot of the styling cues that we saw on the concept have remained, with the exception of the LED grille. Official range figures seem to be all over the place atm, but at least it looks great.

I think more could have been done to the interior. These EV's are part of a new era for Mercedes and should be treated as such. Although its a mass market vehicle compared to other EV's that will hit the market, when you look at what Jaguar did to the I-Pace, expecting more from Mercedes seems reasonable. Thoughts?
As with most MB products I knew that this was going to be a simple evolution in design. I think in order to keep the pricing competitive, they had to retain a lot of similar styling cues from their other crossover/SUV models. The new MBUX system is pretty incredible looking though, and I really like the long landscape display.
The new wheel design is a first for the brand, and that front fascia is a pretty big departure from the norm. Personally I would rather the grille frame was dechromed, but hopefully that's an option.
I'm still waiting to see what the real world range is like. I know it was first reported to be only around 200, but they did release a statement saying that was incorrect. I don't think they would willingly release a new product that falls so far behind key rivals.
I think realistically we're probably going to be looking at a similar range as to whats offered in the I-Pace. Something between the 230-250 mile range, depending on how and where the cars being driven.

estimates I have seen elsewhere, like on some of the more well known publications out there, are also saying the same thing.
inside EV's (a reputable resource I might add) suggests over 200 miles
It seems that Mercedes is orienting the EQ C to be on the lower end of premium spectrum. Now that the e-Tron has been set at $74k, MB should easily be able to undercut it.

as far as i'm concerned its a mid-range product that still leaves space for at least 2 more EQ models below it but Mercedes has no choice but to start off by targeting the biggest segment.
We also don't know if its just going to be offered in one configuration. They may go the same route as other electrics and offer a cheaper entry level model as well as a more expensive long range trim.
I think Tesla's variation of "trims" is a great way to approach it which has been similar to Chevy and other car makers that launched EV's.
Keeping a product that's just establishing itself relatively simple makes it easier to move them in stronger numbers and to have more decisive customers.
Most EV manufacturers have a similar tier system, and even the new Leaf will be offering a long range model. This may change as we see the average range of entry level models continue to increase. The new Niro EV has been rated at 301 miles.
Folks will just have to learn to do without features like sophisticated connective technology, improved aesthetics and even reduced range in some cases.
