From time to time, the Head-up display on my EQA loses brightness, becoming virtually unreadable. When this occurs, it does so at the beginning of a journey and seems to remain in that condition until the end of the journey. It will usually resume its 'proper' setting following a restart.

I've only ever experienced this during daylight hours, not at night.

Is there something which automatically adjusts the brightness of the HUD, or should I suspect a fault?

I'm not sure whether it auto-adjusts or not, but you'd think it would have to wind things back at night time. I take it you've found the menu item that lets you control its brightness?

It might be worth going in there to see if the setting has changed and whether you can change it back again.

Probably a silly question, but you're not breaking in a new set of sunglasses are you? I can't see mine at all with my polaroid sunglasses on, unless I rotate my head 90 degrees.

Thanks for the suggestions, dBC. I've adjusted the HUD settings to suit my preferences, so I'm aware of those, but the point about sunglasses is well worth contemplation. It's a variable I had overlooked. I do occasionally wear sunglasses during winter.

Polaroid make the head up display difficult to see so if you are using Polaroid sunglasses this will be an issue.

Sunny morning here, so I tested the effect of my sunglasses. Problem solved. By tilting my head left or right of vertical, the HUD returned to view, the further the tilt, the clearer the view.

I'm relieved to have resolved that issue - thank you all for your help.
