Hi All

Brand New EQC starting to give malfunction error message, Inaccurate Output message on Display screen and moves the vehicle to stop.

Took it to Service Center but they are clueless

Is there any Ombudsman or global support to get some help Please ?

Desperate fellow :(
Brand new vehicle causing so much anguish. Very disappointed with MB and their support services

thanks

I had a problem with the battery of the recently purchased vehicle. The vehicle's fault was the loss of power. I took it to the Mercedes workshop and they changed the entire battery. I have already more than 18 thousand km and the car is great. What comes out of the breakdown that icon witness?
Thanks. I got an error on my phone that 12V battery is critical. Have given it to Service center. But the Techs in MB Australia are very bad and have no clue at all

Hi Vijay

Vehicle/dealer complaints and dispute resolutions are handled by the state based consumer organisation in your state. EG In NSW it’s the NSW Dept of Fair Trading

If you search for the consumer affairs organisation in your state they will be able to provide guidance on your rights under the Aus consumer protection laws.

Good luck and sorry to hear your EQC isn’t working well.

Had the same issue. Car 1wk old, 'malfunction' message, and full battery was replaced.
Which battery got replaced? The 12V battery under the bonnet, or the big 400V battery that drives the car?
¿Qué batería se reemplazó? ¿La batería de 12 V debajo del capó o la gran batería de 400 V que impulsa el automóvil?

Mi baterĂa fue la de 400v la cambiada

Same for me, the 400v battery changed. Car had to stay 4wks in the workshop due to supply constraints. Frustrating as it was a brand new one, but the dealer handled it correctly, and was able test a bunch of MB (GLA, GLB, GLC, GLE) during that period, to come to the conclusion that the EQC is really a nice car... at least when it drives.
Hi All

They gave back the car with response on CAR Chassis having issues/suspension issue

So far, driven it for like 50kms, so far. No issues

Man, I bet that wasn't easy to find. Explains all the random faults you were seeing though. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. Yes. Must have been tough. But the idea is Error Logging - I had a tesla in US in 2017 and when I had a fault, I would get the error message or fix messages from the Dash/screen itself from the Engineering Team or S/w Team. They identify issues via the Logs sent from the AI Chip. Shows the difference in Software Engineering and Just Engineering :)
Yeh, but if the CAN bus is shorting to ground it gets very hard to log or diagnose anything. That CAN bus is used for all the error logging, hence all the random errors you were seeing. They probably had to get an oscilloscope out to try to work out why the CAN bus was going so crazy.

And Teslas have very similar problems. Here's what my mate's Model S has spat out 3 times now, and the errors are all bogus.. they're yet to find it and fix it. A tow truck is involved each time.

Interesting thread. I remember seeing a mercedes promo video with Dieter Zeitsche where he drove around in an S class interviewing a young woman applying for a software engineer position. The idea of the video was to promote what mercedes was doing re software how that was going to need as much investement and R&D as the mechanical engineering. Looking at MBUX compared to Audio 20 or even comand of the 2015 and 2018 cars I had they seem to be getting results and electric cars raise the game even more.
Tesla presentation of interface software via their screens just does not appeal to me and looks like naff windows rubbish. I hate windows with a vengence. It is all silly bias based on Teslas grey screen look whereas the mercedes with its glossy colours and pictures looks more car like to my eyes. Of course my views only relate to the human interface and as I am only a user not a programmer or designer I have no knowledge as to how good mercedes design of their computer system is compared to Tesla or any other manufacturer.
Are the systems needed to monitor a BEV more complicated than an ICE or just different🤷‍♀️I do not know as I am just the end consumer with no engineering background of any sort.

I'm wondering whether we're all just one bump away from having our own CAN wiring harness short-to-ground; hopefully it was just a one-off defect. Can you see any signs of the repair? The DC/DC is tucked in at an angle under the aircon condensor in the middle back of the engine compartment. You can see the 400V orange feed at the right hand end, and the bolt/nut at the left hand end feeds a traditional fat 12V battery cable that runs off to the 12V battery. That DC/DC box is our equivalent of an alternator in an ICE. The cable in the shiny black sheath running from the centre connector (circled in red) is likely the wiring harness they refer to in your service sheet. It runs under one of those big stainless steel pipes that surround the "engine" and then off to some electronics on the driver's side (like yours, mine is also RHD) as described in your repair sheet.

Will go and have a look when it stops raining here🙄we can be sure if mercedes start seeing a lot of cars with this issue they will come up with a recall just a real pain in the butt for those whose cars fail first. It never ceases to amaze me how even with all the knowledge gained over lots of time, millions of miles of testing and nowadays with mercedes me etc almost constant monitoring, we the public still manage to throw up regular recurrent problems using the cars in real life. That connection though does not look that great a design🤔

ok had a look at my car and it looks very much the same althouh in real life the wiring does not seem quite as close to the body of the block. Also I can see it is the standard material they have wrapped around a lot of the wiring in various places. I wonder if it is more the wiring in the unit has gone bad rather than the wiring to the unit? It is not in a vunerable place particuarly so it is unlikely road debris that caused the issue.
However mice and other critters are known to cause problems with stoats (pine martin) causing havoc in parts of germany as they eat the rubber surrounding wiring🤷‍♀️ might get a nasty shock on a BEV🤣https://jalopnik.com/how-cute-ferret-like-animals-cause-germany-65-million-1788013196
also seems rats are doing the same in the usa

Hi, My EQC in workshop for last 3 weeks with Malfunction error. (Initial warning was 'drive system fault') The rear motor has to be replaced Im told. Waiting on it to arrive form Germany sometime this week. I will be 4 weeks without the car by the time I get it back. Has anyone encountered this problem?

Hope your car comes back to you fit and fine sooner. I know how hard it can be, when a new car causes so much grief. My wife was scolding me and telling to sell the car back. But all good now

I have had the same problem this week. Following the routine annual service the car has a malfunction light. The garage had no clue waht to do! I threw them the keys and said I am not accepting the car back. They now tell me they have had to update lots of software and that they "think" the problem is solved. I have told them I have no confidence in driving the car and am leaving the car with them for another week to chack out the issue over time. Questiuon is ... if the software is faulty then why wasn't it updated during the service? I think they don't really have a clue what's going on and are clutching at straws. I would not recommend anyone to buy an EQC based on my several awful experiences.
