The charging network Amerify America where you get free charging is a joke and Mercedes has misrepresented the whole charging situation. 1) never been to an Electrfy America location where >50% of chargers are working. 2) never been to an Electrfy America charger that delivers > 33% of rated charging power. 3) if you run over 30 minutes of charging Mercedes charges your credit card. I think a law suit should be filed.

Here in the Northeast my experience has been that there are at least three out of four stations working at EA. The only times I have gotten less than a 100 kW rate is when the starting SoC was high and the battery temperature was low. Compared to the Taycan where Plug & Charge worked about 10% of the time, the EQS SUV is much less stressful to charge. With the Taycan Plug & Charge usually ended up in Plug & Pay after giving up on being able to get the free charge to work.

Do you recall the SoC and battery temperature (expressed in possible charge rate) was when you experienced the poor rates?

Last May I drove 3000 miles round-trip from Arizona to Indiana, charging at Electrify America the entire way. I did notice that their net work on expressways was pretty equivalent to that of Tesla, so there were plenty of places to stop. I never had trouble finding a 350 kW charger at any of my ten charging stops. At two or three the car did not make a handshake and I had to call EA to rectify that, which was a bit of a pain.

The Mercedes terms and conditions for the free charging at EA clearly specify 30 minutes per stop. That was always more than I needed to get back to 80% and sometimes 90%.

I have had no issues with my Electrify America charging. Mercedes clearly stated that 30 minute charge sessions are free for 2 years. Not clear to me if there has to be a set time period between charging sessions. So far, this has not been an issue. I once went to 31 minutes and was charged a few cents. Not a big deal.

I just took my EQS 580 from Buffalo, NY to Long Island, NY. No issues with any of the Electrify America Chargers. I arrived at a charger with only 13% left on the battery so 30 minutes was not enough to get to the desired 90% level. After 30 minutes I stopped the session and unplugged then I started another session at the same charger until I reached 90% and it seemed that no $ charge was made to me. So that seems to answer my question about the 30 minute per sesion limit.
