Hi There

I took delivery of an EQC 6 days and 200 miles ago.

I got out to to the car today and before I switched on the max range was 217 miles, as soon as I turned it on it dropped to 68miles (this was with no heating etc on). I turned it off and it rose to 217. The car was plugged in and charging all night with me getting a fully charged message around 2230

Roadside assist recommended the car going into the local dealer which I’ve just done

has anyone else experienced similar ?

No not experienced anything like that but I pay little attention to the range the car says. By the way the shorthand for the range meter is GOM on some forums after Guessometer😉
For me I look at the SOC and my current consumption and I have a fair idea of whether the range will meet my needs at that time.
The GOM is based on the average over the last most recent km so can be wildly out when if like me you do some very short journeys.
Did you see the same change in the app range shown on the mercedes me page? I only have one range figure but I think more recent builds have 2 shown and maybe that will show a figure based on the most recent and another on a longer average in the same way the app has the last trip data as well as a from reset figure so for me my last trip consumption was 36.2kwh over a 4.2km journey and 23.1kwh over the from reset which is over 15956.2km.
do update your garages response.

Thanks Parkwood, it’s currently in the dealership unlocked with the window down so I’m hoping it’s inside!!

I’ve attached screenshots from the app and the strange thing for me is the large difference in battery charge level

Agree this looks very weird are the screenshots taken from current readings ie as the car is at the moment? If so it looks like some sort of software glitch. My charging dashboard and charging status screens match. I discussed the fact we can follow what happens with our cars with the service staff once they know customers take an interest😉

I have a video that shows the drop and increase when powering on and off (very strange)

hopefully they come back to me tomorrow

Very interesting and I would think helpful for the garage looks like a software glitch and I have never seen it on my car. Keep us advised and hope they get to the bottom asap.

Thanks man - they are doing some form of reset so I’ll know more tomorrow

No it is not. Sadly cars these days have ever more complex computer systems, so it becomes like the nightmare of windows when things go wrong. Is it a sensor issue is it a software glitch?in this case it must surely be a software glitch as the computer starts at one fig and then Recalibrates to another as the computer does the maths. Could be wrong as I am no technician but what sensor would it be looking at which would make it change? I suppose if there is an issue with some sort of sensor that measures the real efficiency in real time giving a bad reading. All I know it is horribly complicated and you are rightly disappointed to say the least to have such a problem in such an expensive car. I would stress thoughthat Ithink we the consumer have to understand our cars today are immensely complicated things and the price for that is that they can throw up difficult to resolve issues.

In your video it looks like it's trying to tell you about some sort of malfunction - drivetrain maybe? The message appears in the centre of the instrument cluster, so most of it is off-screen in the video. Do you recall what that message said?

I cannot believe I did not see that but you are correct there is a malfunction watning flashing up! Shows how human perception can be quite poor at times. It looks like it is a possibly more complicated issue than I first grasped. Feel for the op not nice to suffer such a problem on a brand new car especially ones as expensive as these are. It adds insult to injury.

It only said malfunction with no detail, I tried to expand but there was no further information.can I find out in the app ?

You’re right though about it not being great on such an expensive car but the only saving grace I have is that it’s a company car and I haven’t paid for it myself. My company has at least 15 EQCs so they have some sway with the dealers

I’m in a hybrid GLA today sorted out by the dealership, Mercedes Benz assist/RAC were absolutely awful.

I’ll keep you up to date as thing progress

I had a similar problem, and it turned out to be nothing more than a software update. Mind you it took for weeks for them too figure this out. Hope it's the same for you. Mercedes assist were fantastic four me. I only found out about the problem the afternoon before flying of on holiday. RAC came, escorted me to my local garage, rental car waiting when I got back at five pm. All good for when we set off for the airport at 4am the next morning.
