Sorry have no idea what you mean? Where is the inverter module area? Is it the strange pedestrian warning noise the car generates at speeds up to 30km in drive, reversing is a gentle beep beep but the noise made when going forwards is a strange whirring noise totally odd and not audible in the car unlike the reversing beep. That would probably make people look as that is what it is designed to do……the car certainly makes all sorts of clicks and whirring noises as things switch in and out even when stationary with the ignition off and there is often the sound of running water trickling away…..

I suspect it's just the heat pump thingy doing it's stuff. Mine sounds pretty loud in my quiet garage, but if I'm in a busy carpark I tend to have to put my ear near the front to hear it. I compared it with a Tesla Model 3 at lunch today, and the Tesla made a very similar noise when in that mode, but louder. Mine sounds a bit like a very muffled Karcher pressure cleaner... and only from the outside... I can't hear it at all from inside.

I tested mine yesterday and yes there is a sound of a fan or motor running but not anything unpleasant. I am sure it is the noise you are talking about as switching the pre climate on and off stoped and started it. It was less than the noise some car radiator fans make whn they continue running after a long hot run in the summer so it was not intrusive or worrying. As I say the car seems to make all sorts of clicks and whirrs even when not switched on strange beast! One thing it made me realise is how good the pre conditioning is shall use that again!

My EQC makes a horrible fan type noise from the inverter module area. Anyone else notice this. It’s head turning an I get comments from passers by.
I picked up my wife's new EQA on Sunday and when we used the pre-heat last night the sound is VERY loud. I'd describe it like an electric razor but very loud and enough for people to turn and see what the noise is. I had MB Technician around to investigate and he said this was doing what it is supposed to do! It uses the AC in reverse to quickly heat the cabin but for me this is not acceptable and in the early hours is very noticeable in the quiet area where we live.

I find it to be mildly noticeable and curious to others to have a car lightly buzzing however it is not horrible sounding to me anyway and I have had no complaints and noise blends into the background when familiar with it and I can often only hear it when close to bonnet and, crucially, not audible/disturbing inside nearby houses or my own even at 6am. I live in the suburbs however if it was the countryside I imagine it might be more audible inside a closeby poorly insulated house though in countryside houses are often further apart. Other brands are far more obnoxious and loud as are engines!

Mine is nosier some days than others dependent on how cold it is and how much work it has to do and I thinkwhether it is stillplugged in or not which may mean different systems are at paly, but nothing too bad. it is a noise people will become accustomed to as BEV become the norm and owners remotely switch on the pre heat function. It cwrtsinlyis not so loud the noise would penetrate into the house and far far quieter than the wretched noise motorbikes make these days which can be heard km away😤

ok thanks for that will give mine a try tomorrow and report back. Do you have an engine bay cover on your car?
No There is no cover. Correction on the noise. Its coming from the Compressor at the bottom of the motor area. Its sounds like its coming from the module but close inspection reveals that it is just noise traveling up the casing. It is noisy but "normal" I still recon they could have made it to be quieter.

How did you track that down? Mine opens the contactors once I pop the bonnet. I've always assumed that's an added safety precaution to make sure I can't bump into 400V even if I'm crazy enough to start hacking through orange cables under there. But no 400V -> no compressor, everything shuts down. And the app won't help - it disables remote access when the bonnet is open.

Interesting mine stays alive when the bonnet open. I used a mechanics Stethoscope. (You can just use a length of small plastic tube - one end in your ear and probe about the motor bay.) I also had the car on my hoist with the lower covers removed,

You could trick the car into thinking the bonnet is closed by closing the latches with a screwdriver when the bonnet is open. Just remember to release the catches before you close it again.
