Hey. Yes and no I suppose. looked at all the threads I could see and looked like a few common things came up. Range, screen glare off the stitching (i think - could be other lateral detail) and stuff just not working - like the dash etc.

In general I’m very happy with the car. I feel
I did a lot of research, and have gotten pretty much what I thought.

Daft things are niggling. Apple car Play needs to be plugged in... and is just a bit of a faff in general to get working - the screen glare off the stitching is really a thing. The silver stitching bounces the light onto the whole windscreen about an inch below the hud in high sun conditions. I think this is probably a bit of a miss from the designers if I’m honest.
Brake feel - hard to describe - but the car can feel like it’s run out of pedal in hard braking situations. The pedal just firms up and al you can do is press harder. It’s stopped the car in both instances and suspect it’s part of getting to know the car - bit disconcerting though.

Good stuff - Mercedes Grimsby were fab thus far. Worth the drive out from Sheffield to collect!!!

The car is very quick!! I’d say way more deployable than my previous M5 Comp. it’s got loads of kit on the premium plus model...so not too much to say thus far on how it all fits in.
Sound System is amazing!!!!
super happy at the minute. Will have to live with it for a bit and do a full review for you guys once it’s all soaked in.

Congratulations GuitarSlinger. I have owned my EQC400 for a year now so am happy to share stories and concerns if any. Watch those running boards! They will take the skin off your shins and leave mud on your jeans.

Congratulations on your new EQC @GuitarSlinger! Were you considering any other EVs? If so, what sold you on the EQC over them?
Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

Good question.

Tesla really don't do anything for me. Appreciate specs, features, range and all that.
Being a bit of a "petrol head" in general terms, much more attracted to fast german cars in the past. Had M3's/5s previous. Personally, i think the EQC in the AMG Prem Plus line looks expensive, and ticks a lot of the premium car markers from a brand/aesthetics point of view....not being too shallow about it.
I was also keen on the fact the car is pretty much as fully loaded as you need, HUD, Burmester Sound and feel like i've "completed" the model. Nothing missing.

Practicalities wise, big enough for kids,UK holidays, throw a few suitcases in the back, bucket/spades...all that jazz. Can even just about get my fishing kit in the back if required - so space wise - it's enough. Range, isn't really an issue for 95% of the driving we'll do in the car.

Would i prefer a full EV RR Sport maybe for the extra space...yes, maybe. Doesn't exist yet however..

Mercedes finance was really easy to arrange. £0 deposit, 0% Finance - being equivalent to a good discount, plus the 100% EV WDA..just made things smooth....plus a free home charger install..

As an aside, we need to get another EV through our company and considering an Audi eTtron Sportback S. However...no hud or black pack (£15K more than the merc!). I'm going to see one in the next week or so, and find out whether they have a vorsprung spec one on the horizon....

If we could comfortably live with the space in the EQC, maybe the eTron GT would be ok for myself, and the mrs have the merc....just a bit early to say for sure.

The car has loads of power really - very usable, super sooth and comfy to drive. Unless you are wanting to hammer it round bends....booting it in a straight line is a lot of fun and if we're honest, covers a lot of what we get to do!!
It's usable power as well - way more deployable than my previous RWD M5 that you just had to be super careful with!

We're really happy with it so far....not without its quirks of course, but i'll maybe discuss those with the chap who left a message below...

Thanks for the reply mate.

As saying in the above thread - we seem to be getting on really well with the car, but only had a week of ownership....so i'm sure things will crop up..

Slight oddities with the car i've noticed.
  • Screen glare on really bright sunny days - the silver detailing that goes all the way around under the windscreen has a bit of habit of reflecting back up onto the windscreen. This, for me, lies about 2 inches below where the hud displays on the windscreen, and can stretch across the whole screen - obviously it comes and goes, and everywhere inbetween depending on lighting, passing under trees etc. I imagine i can't be the only person noticing this. I'm not sure it's a deal breaker....i could definitely see it annoying folk!
  • Brake feel. I've not had this all the time, but it does seem the haptic brake feel can be a little bit twitchy...and also go really solid. The car was still stopping, but it felt like it had run out of travel. This was in sport mode, heading down a steep hill - though only doing 30..(big hill!) It was a little disconcerting...though the car stopped itself fine. I've had a couple of instances of this now...and i haven't started trying to replicate specifically. I feel it was more noticeable in sport, than comfort, but need to get to the bottom of it/understand how the technology is working.
  • Lack of charging timer
There doesn't seem to be an onboard way of setting your charging times..only your departure time to benefit from pre-climate..and your desired max battery level. The Mercedes me app seems fine. But from what i can tell, porsche, audi have slightly more advanced app for that. Assuming you have a basic charger with no bundled charging profile capability.
  • Mercedes Gear Shift/Wipers etc. Have to say - this is my first merc and getting used to the gears on the right of the column....bit odd. Totally a "get used to it thing"...but really have a desire to grope around for a central gear shift of some sort....Quick wipe...you really have to give the button on the wiper stick a firm press to get screen wash...bit unusual again - probably a merc thing you just have to get used to.
Other cool bits.
  • Burmester sound...brilliant!! Such a good piece of kit, and blows away anything ive had before. You won't be upset with this if you've specced it.
  • Lights. My wife drove us home the other night up the M1 and have to say the auto headlights were amazing - worked so well - so bright.
  • The car with the big AMG line alloys - does get a lot of looks...It looks really classy nicely washed and clean.
  • Not managed to get the interior assistant working yet - apprently this like gesture control...lots to learn...
If anyone has any questions or anything specific i'd be happy to reply.

All the best lads.

An e-tron GT would look very nice next to the EQC. Audi nailed the design of that car. 0 deposit and 0% finance is hard to say no to on a car like that.

I was going to ask you about the range because some people have had issues with their real world numbers but it looks like you've done the math for it to fit your needs.

Yeah, i came into it fairly eyes wide open, and knowing my range requirements are very small most of the time. There's obviously a lot of variable in the weather, and what it's indicating. High-speed motorway driving saw the range get smashed on my first-heavy footed run!! The one tester i have most years is a summer holiday drive from Sheffield to Anglesey - and we'll just have to plan around it.

I'd imagine if you were travelling a lot and had 100miles each way very regularly...it would be a pressure...(well - you'd definitely be having to charge en-route)....and then i'm not sure i'd be making the same choice in all honesty. The power of the car is so enjoyable, it'd be a shame to have to tickle it the entire journey.

More details on the 15th April i think about the EQS.......likely to be an offering in/around the e-tron GT money/doable range for most as well...will be interesting to see.

Hi can you tell me what kw per mile range you are getting? Does your cars active park assist work? Have an EQC on order for July delivery so am lurking around the forums etc preparing for the change😉

Ok. Park assist. Not really tried to use it properly. I’ll give it a go today at work.

according to the trip data on the app since brand new it’s saying 2.2mpKh. Although it has been quite cold since we picked it up and I’ve been thrashing it a a bit. I can watch the basic telemetry of my wife driving the kids to school now on the app...at 2.3.

All short journeys, school run, commute into work. No long distance miles at all.

Thanks useful info. Did you factory order your car and if so were you able to follow its production by registering the order on Mercedes me. I thought the system was now live but cannot find any links to it in Mercedes me.

Hi There, just to confirm the parking assist seems to work as far as finding spaces. I didn't have the space at work to try it out fully, but will have another go when it' snot as busy.

There are generally quite a few fully spec'd cars in the UK as part of dealership quotas/stocks...or shipments due in -albeit the colours tend to be black/grey in the main....
So can't advise ref the factory order im afraid.

Many thanks for taking the trouble to respond. Good the parking assist seems to work. Here in France it is nearly always factory orders got used to it now (this is my 4th new Mercedes here) but being able to track the car would be fun😉
