Hi, driving on motorway last night and suddenly on the dashboard a birds eye view of a car with a red bonnet appeared and an annoying non stop pinging sound. Pulled up on hard shoulder and it stopped. Got to services to look in manual but this sign is nowhere to be found. It came on again as soon as I hit over 60mph. It stopped when I started driving at 39mph. Car is only 6 weeks old - any ideas?

Is the bonnet firmly latched? Try opening it and closing it letting it drop from quite a height. If it is firmly fixed and does not move up at all if pulled it may be a sensor issue. Compared to previous Mercedes my bonnet is a little harder to pull up as I think the latches need a small adjustment but as the need to open it is so rare I am not bothered. From experience though sometimes they appear shut but they are not quite latched fully. The speed could indicate it is airflow just lifting it enough to set the sensor off.
