Hi, I live and drive the EQS580 4M in Mumbai India. The factory has set the Active Brake assist and the Attention Assist by default as "ON". The car automatically brakes practically every 5-10 seconds. Literally. there are just too many jaywalkers and motor cyclists criss crossing etc. Is there any way/solution/hack that these features can be turned "OFF" by default. Currently i have to turn this OFF before i drive. Also that the car doesn't raise the vehicle height "automatically" even after learning the geo location. It asks every time at the geo location... any help is welcome

Speaking of jaywalkers halting the car automatically, I think that would be the Active Brake Assist function causing that. It is recommended by Mercedes instruction manual that you always leave Active Brake Assist activated. I understand Active Brake Assist uses the on-board sensors to register whether there is a risk of collision for traffic travelling ahead, crossing or oncoming. Perhaps check with Mercedes if there is a fault or ask for a demonstration drive of best way to use in heavy traffic such as overriding with accelerator or steering direction? Be interesting what they recommend

More tips-

You can cancel a brake application of Brake Assist at any time by:

* Fully depressing the accelerator pedal or with kickdown

* Releasing the brake pedal

* You maneuver to avoid the obstacle

I'm not sure if there is a quick access shortcut for Active Brake Assist to turn on and off quickly

There is possibly a setting that dealer can access to disable, if you don't want to cover the windscreen camera that could also disable distronic or other systems. Not sure if they will do it but you could ask.

There are also ultrasound sensors around the perimeter plus additional cameras in the side mirrors. Not sure if they have much input as I haven't covered camera myself and wouldn't particularly recommend that method. You may also need check with insurance company about covering camera as insurance may increase. One day that camera may help prevent a rear end smash or something.
