Having had an EQC for last 4 months and a pod point homecharger installed, I find myself incredibly frustrated that Mercedes EQC does NOT support scheduled/timed charging. This is very disappointing as a number of other EV makers e.g. Audi e-tron, Nissan Leaf, etc. Have this feature built in. I have written to Mercedes but have had no reply. Does anyone have any ideas on this please?

Hey @RichardEQC. It's nuts that Mercedes won't allow you to schedule charging. It seems so short sighted. Unless Mercedes makes a change with the Mercedes Me app or with their chargers you might have to look at alternative chargers.

Welcome to the forum @RichardEQC.
Would you consider going with a different charger? I heard ChargePoint Home has a scheduling feature that could resolve this issue.
Aside from this, how are you liking your EQC?
EQC is really great to drive but I’m not impressed by its build quality. The MBUK display completely stopped working yesterday and all I got was a black screen. Hence, it’s now gone into the Mercedes garage to have the display panel replaced. Disappointing for a new car that is only 4 months old!

I had exactly the same question and the Mercedes support team answered me that due to some reliability problem they block this functionality and they don't plan to put it available anymore..
We are here speaking about a brand cleaming to be premium with premium price not being able to provide a basic functionality that any basic or mid range car company provide without trouble..
For those who choose this car for emissions reduction reason this prevents us to flat the curve of electricity consumption and for the other one it just increase the electricity bill (up to 30$ per month).
To keep it on a positive side, it's a good joke from this "premium" company.
Next time => Japan brand for me!

Hello ... I have spent the last 2 months trying to figure this out.!!! I went for the BP Pulse free Home charger as it was a mercedes Benz Finance offer when I got the car.
BP Pulse are trying to fix it but on reading this thread I'm wasting my time ?
My elec is only 5p/KWh from 0030 - 0430 and I cant schedule. This is outrageous . All credible elect companies will offer cheaper pricing overnight to take pressure off the grid
This is BIG problem going forwards ??
I'd like a dialogue with someone a Mercedes any ideas or help please ?

finally my scheduling charging problems have been resolved. My pod point home charger have released a software update that allows scheduled charging via the pod point app!!. So no more getting up at night to plug the car in...everything runs automatically now.

Brilliant ! Thanks for letting me know, i’ll Keep on to BP charge master. They have the functionality in their app but the EQC doesn’t seem to recognise the schedule and just charges immediately.

I took delivery of my EQC last week and have just discovered it is not possible to schedule your charge. Thought I had worked it out because under ‘charging’ on the app you can set your departure time... having set this thinking my intelligent car would work backwards from departure time, 07:00 and therefore use off peak, I have just gone out and plugged mine in hoping it would not start charging... 😳 oh dear!
Mercedes really need to sort this as many providers are offering EV TARIFFS specifically for this functionality...
I am going to start hounding them tomorrow!!

I have persevered and have now set a regular schedule for 0030 - 0430 via BP Chargemaster. It really has been a major headache but at last it does seem to have worked. The car always wants to charge immediately; however the homecharge unit overrides it and i consistently achieve a 20-30KW charge at 5p/KWh over the 4 hours. I am with Octopus energy who have an super off peak rate for 4 hours for EV drivers. Keep at it as it is possible - just put up with lots of frustrations and re-sets!

Hello,
I’m using a BP charger with Octopus Energy with their EV tariff like you mentioned. Initially, my home charger did start up at 12.30am but now it just charges my car as soon as it is plug in.
I’ve had no end of trouble with BP and getting the unit installed and now this has happened. I’ve reported this issue so many times and they haven’t fixed it. It’s costing me more that it should to charge it at the moment.
What did BP do to resolve your issue? It sounds like you had the same problem?
Thanks!

Hi....from my experience my conclusion is that the whole thing does work but it is very temperamental and the way around this is to RESET the homecharger. That worked for me over the weekend - after a reset I was able to complete 3 successful schedules over 3 nights. It is infuriating sometimes but I still get ultra cheap charging. Others on this forum have advised that BP have installed a manual timer which personally seems an odd solution to a digital problem - but it does seem to work. Also BP did swap the unit from an O2 sim unit to a newer Vodafone sim unit but I dont really think that was the issue as the scheduling is still a bit unreliable. For now I think I'm as happy as I'm ever going to be with this by recognising that occasionally I have to reset. Hope this helps

That's great, that's for this. I've updated my ticket and pushed for a replacement of the unit. It's just annoying as it's costing me more than it should to charge my car.

I've tried to reset the unit but no luck unfortunately. I hope a replacement sorts this out!

Thanks for your help!

I have the schedule setup , but it intermittently charges as soon as plugged in x

Have tried resetting but doesn’t make any difference .

After lots of calls to BP, they’ve agreed to replace the BP unit with another that has a Vodafone SIM card in. It was O2 before. They said that it wasn’t receiving a stable signal so that will stop the scheduled charging working.
Still waiting on a call to arrange installation though. I’ll let you know if it resolves the problem!

Noticed last night , ahead of my schedule time for charging to start . The car starts charging every 15 minutes exactly and then pauses in between . So whilst this is intermittent - the timing is very precise!

surely more than a flakey signal ?

This is my experience too although I have reluctantly accepted that there is a period which i describe as a battle between the car and the wall unit ... some electricity is consumed but the main schedule does kick in at 0030. All seems a bit underwhelming as a user but it does deliver most of my charging at the 5pKWh overnight rate which is my objective

Dave I've had exactly the same problem with BP.
Set up a schedule and as others have said..... the car started charging 4 times in an hour using 1.5kW of power. If i'd left it plugged in (at 19.00) it would've probably be full charged by the time the cheap rate was applied.
Emailed BP numerous times (waste of time phoning unless you have a spare hour or so). Still waiting for a reply a week later.

Exactly the same problem. Plugged mine it at 19.00 and started/stopped 4 times in an hour. Used 1.5kW in that time.
