High speed noise - I would like to know if any of you noticed a high pitched noise coming from the engine at around 110kph / ~70mph and above, it is quite noticeable when pressing the pedal at this speed. I was told it's a common thing in electric cars but would like to hear from people owning the EQA in particular (I know it's individual whether someone is annoyed by this noise or not).

About the sunroof - is it possible to have only the front sunroof with the curtain on and the rear one with the curtain folded or vise versa? Are there separate controls for the front and back?

Regarding the rear camera - when coming to a stop, the camera seems to open with some noticeable noise. Can it be disabled?

Many thanks!

I had two test drives in EQA 250s and I bought a 300 and none of them made any loud noises at the speed you mention, there is a slight whine under hard acceleration at most speeds but it’s not intrusive.
I don’t know about the sunroof as I don’t have one.
The reversing camera can be disabled on the multi media system. “Home// Settings// Assistance// Camera & Parking// Switch auto reversing camera on/off.

As you wrote I've meant the whine when accelerating at high speeds.
Regarding the reversing camera, would that setting disable it completely even when going backwards (R) or just when coming to a stop (in D)?

The camera shouldn’t be operating if you haven’t selected reverse, if it is coming on when you stop before you reverse maybe you’re accidentally moving the lever through neutral and touching reverse enough to trigger the camera?

slightly off topic, but i have a question for you. i too tested a 250 but ordered a 300 without a test drive. how do you find the power compared to the 250? is it noticably quicker?
thanks,

kevin.

I think it does feel quicker but I tested the 250 in the first week of June last year and my 300 arrived at the end of October so it was hardly a side by side test. 300 has 38hp more so it should be quicker even though it’s 100kg heavier.

QUOTE FDR post #4: "The camera shouldn’t be operating if you haven’t selected reverse, if it is coming on when you stop before you reverse maybe you’re accidentally moving the lever through neutral and touching reverse enough to trigger the camera?"

I am learning about reversing camera behaviour (see 360 degree camera thread in this forum). My motivation is to try to avoid unnecessary activation of the reversing camera - and associated wear and tear on the reversing camera door mechanism. For me, the wear and tear perception is increased by the noise made by the camera door opening and closing. In an otherwise quiet car, it is quite noisy - and a rather unpleasant noise!

Reversing camera behaviour may be different in EQAs without the 360 degree camera option, but I find that even when I turn the reversing camera function OFF, the reversing camera is still activated when the 360 degree camera view is triggered, presumably because it is necessary to provide part of the 360 degree camera view.

Yes I saw your thread about your problems, I don’t have the 360 degree camera, mine just gives a little thump opening and shutting (but only when selecting/deselecting reverse) and I can imagine it would be irritating if it did that a lot.

i have had the car for the past 7 months .the noise from the car is very clear at speeds above 110km and gets noisier and louder when there is wind . My first check up is next week and i will check with Mercedes as this is very annoying
Did you mean the high pitched noise from the electric motor? If so I'd like to know what Mercedes have to say about it after they check. Thanks!
