Does anyone have experience charging their car using an adapter (compatible with a Tesla charging cable) ? I’ve looked at the product on TeslaTap 50 amp and mini 60 amp online — and reviews look good. Thought I’d check first.

I have no use for, but cannot see why it shouldn't generally work. It's not ideal though, for example one issue is if relying on this adaptor while arriving to a parking spot marked with Tesla Only signage, or if on rare occasion the destination charger is software-limited to Tesla cars only, or a Tesla driver gets triggered.

TeslaTap Mini Adapter feedback?

Another issue is if not bothered to decouple the adaptor at home, then you will apparently need find a way to reholster the cable outside of the charger's built-in holster. Another issue is needing a second adaptor to carry with you for hotels.

Again not insurmountable or maybe not even relevant issues, but it is not completely 100% simple. General advice seems to be don't get the lower amp ones though, especially the 40amp.

Also worth checking is if the Tesla cable will easily reach the EQ charging port if it is on the other side of the car or something. I had a Tesla charger years ago but the cable was too short to reach around to the new port location on the EQC. I was wary of using extension cable and the official Tesla installer couldn't/wouldn't help me so I replaced the entire charger.

I have been using an 80 Amp TeslaTap adapter with my Gen1 Tesla HPWC since last April with no issues. I also purchased a 60 Amp TeslaTap which I am using with my Gen1 Tesla Mobile Charger. I was dismissive of the Level 1 charge cord provided by Mercedes and I had invested in multiple adapters for my Tesla Mobile Charger which made it a very flexible tool for charging on the go. No issues at all.

Hi there, I purchased an adapter for the Tesla charging stations but I’m not sure how to access the Tesla charging stations since they don’t have the usual card reader or tap to pay. Is there an app that I need to download to access them?

The Tesla plug to J1772 plug adapters are only for the low powered Tesla Destination Chargers or Mobile Chargers. The adapters cannot be used with the Tesla Superchargers. The Destination Chargers also don't have a card reader since they are free to customers of the businesses where the chargers are installed.

Yo, I totally get your concern about charging your car. That Tesla charging cable can be a lifesaver. Still, it's always good to have a backup plan, especially if you're on the road. I haven't used those adapters, but I've heard good things about TeslaTap 50 amp and mini 60 amp. It's always a good idea to check reviews before making a purchase, so props for doing your research! And hey, while we're on car accessories, have you checked out Snap Shades? Definitely worth a look, especially as we're getting closer to summer! Here's the link: https://snapshades.com/. Good luck!
