My 2023 EQE-350SUV was delivered with 20" Cooper tires. a Goodyear 2nd brand "designed for Mercedes". On a freshly plowed thinly snow packed road on a mild curve at 10-15mph (speed limit 30 mph) the vehicle aquaplanes and no warning lights for skid go on. I have owned at least 20 ICE 4-matics, including the first to be sold and none of them behaved like this with original equipment wheels and tires on the same road near my home. My 2023 Tesla model 3 with Continental all season tire takes the same road at 30mph without skidding as did my Mercedes dealer's driver's car when I was chauffeured home from the shop when it was left for a malfunctioning door handle. I was advised I possibly need snow tires as it was an electric vehicle. What???? My previous ICE 4-matics even with summer rated tires did not do this.

Are the Cooper tires classified as All Season AND have a M/S (mud & snow) symbol on the tire? If not they would be marginal for snow conditions. If they are rated for M/S your first action should be to get an alignment check performed as this can significantly affect the handling.

I had an incident (long story) that required wheel alignment. In a rush I requested an independent shop to do a front wheel alignment. All seemed fine but the car felt skittish on lightly snow covered roads, unlike the previous winter where it was stable. This pushed me into getting dedicated set of winter tires and rims. Also requested an alignment check. They discovered that one of the rear wheels was badly out of alignment, likely causing the skittish handling.

I suspect my PZero A/S would have been fine again this winter but now I have a set of winter tires. A costly experience but now feel a lot more comfortable with winter driving. When the PZeros wear out I can put on summer tires.

You have the Cooper Discoverer CrossRange tires. These are only made in 1 tire/size to specificially to fit your EQE. There are a M&S rated tire but not servere snow rated. SInce Goodyear bought Cooper, it's likely based on the Goodyear Eagles which are true garbage (had them on my Audi e-tron and current BMW iX). They are terrible in any level of snow despite the weight of the EQE. They are EV engineered but don't have the foam sound reduction. I doubt you will lose much range, if any, by swithing to a better tire. Here are some good options, these are all season but server snow rated both are excellent tires. I am getting the CrossClimate2 tires put on my iX today.

The Cooper CrossRange tires my be rated all season but are apparently not--aquaplaning and a contemporary 4 matic can't tell the car is skidding? The vehicle literately floats at 15 mph over thinly packed freshly plowed roadway on a mild curve. I hate to spend $1300 for a set of Michelin Cross Range tires and find it's the vehicle, not the tire that's at fault. Curiously, the vehicle easily navigates the incline on my driveway when it is similarly plowed retaining a well packed snow cover but there is no need to turn the steering wheel as its a straight shot and of course it's at more like 5mph rather than 15. Curiously the 20 inch Coopers are $170 each as compared to about $310 for the Cross Climates at Tire Rack. I was looking at getting them at Costco thinking they would be the logical choice, but to replace tires after 5,000 miles on a $83,000 vehicle because the original tires are unsafe junk?

My wife had the same issue in her EQE 500, it has 21" run flat Pirellis and she was having similar problems. I told her to use 1 pedal driving and she said it helped a lot. I wasn't thinking in my previous post, I am putting the CrossClimate2 tires on her EQE not my iX, but rescheduled it for next week. I can let you know how they perform but expect the will be tremendously better and I am OK if her range decreases some. The Vredestein is an excellent tire and is severe snow rated too. I had them on my previous mach-e GTPE and they were great and no range loss. They have a 30 day trial period so they can be removed. Not sure now the stock at Tire Rack though so not sure when you can get them. I really feel it's the Cooper tire based on my previous experience with Goodyear Eagles on three vehicles.

I have an EQS 450...I have several times accidentally done donuts on ice/snow...luckily without being near any traffic. I also had to replace all four OEM tires with less than 10 k....I just bought Michelin high end tires and have not had the same problems...OEM tires should be much better in Mercedes products

My 2023 EQESUV350 came with 20 inch Cooper tires that are not run flat. On slippery surfaces (densely packed snow or icy conditions) the vehicle will aquaplane at speeds as slow as 15 mph on a roadway with a mild curve. The car literally floats and no anti skid warning or automatic anti skid protection comes on. Fine on wet pavement though. I hope your dealer replaced your tires with a safe tire if you have 20 inch tires or you do not live in a cold climate if you have Coopers.

That is most likely the original set. I have identical wheels/tires.

They are RTF, see the Pirelli site for details. Because they are RFT there is no spare, jack, or tire pump with sealant provided.

I have found it handy to travel with a portable tire pump. Typically use it a few times over winter when the tire pressure drops.

I googled and found the below website and it doesn't show if they are runflats or non-runflats.

The ride doesn't feel like runflats though. I have a few BMWs with runflats and the ride is rough.
Just want to make sure as I only saw a pump in the trunk but no sealant.

If they turn out the be non-runflats, then I'll go buy a sealant kit just as a precaution.

My 2023 EQE500 SUV was also delivered with 20" Cooper non-runflat tires. They were not good on snow and didn't last very long. Ended up having my winter wheels with Blizzaks installed last winter. Got a set of Pirelli WeatherActive tires this last summer from Sam's Club to replace the Coopers and they have been the best I've ever owned! They have been great so far this winter here in the northeastern US with all the snow we've received.

How many miles did you get out of the Coopers? I have 5300 miles on mine (Minneapolis) and though I haven't measured the tread, they look like I could get about 20,000+ miles on them if it doesn't snow. With climate change I believe we had 3 plowable snows last year and two this winter thus far. Out of the 5 events, I was either out of town or it was warm enough for the snow to melt on the plowed street. This last event was followed by very cold temperatures so the snow pack remained and I found out that the Coopers were "unsafe at any speed" for the first time. I am reluctant to spend $1200 to replace almost new tires. I was even more dismayed to find my local MB store was offering a new 2024 EQE-SUV350 "left over" with a $22,000 discount. I did not check it's tire brand.

Sadly, I only got somewhere between 10K to 12K out of the Coopers. Have almost as much on the Pirellis so far. Very impressed with the traction in all conditions, especially on all the snow we've had this winter in Western PA. Even though these have a good amount of tread left, I don't expect to get anywhere near the 60K treadwear warranty as these heavy EVs eat tires. But at least I can get the next set prorated based on what I end up getting assuming I keep this vehicle after my lease is up at the end of June.

How does the 60k treadwear warranty work? Do you have to get the tires from a specific tire shop for them to handle the warranty? Or you can bring the car (with the tires) to any tire shop and they can handle the treadwear warranty?

How does the prorate work? Is it based on how much you paid for the tires initially?

Original set of tires Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season Elect 255/45 R20 105H lasted 22k miles (3/32, 5/32, 5/32, 6/32). Not sure why one was 3/32 and one was 6/32. Could probably wait till October 25k before replacing…

Just got replacement tires installed.

I bought these from Amazon with the Amazon Tire installation service at Just Tires. I am not sure if these are good or not… but for the price, I want to try them out.

Cooper Discoverer CrossRange All Terrain 255/45R20 105H XL Light Truck TireCooper
$180.98 US$ each
$788.20 total delivered to Just Tires
$63.80 total for 4 tires installation at Just tires
I think this is a super good price!

They come with 11/32 tread and looks nice and deep. Tire date codes are 02/23, 05/23, 05/23, 05/23, not too bad. So far, drove about 50 miles on them. Road noise and ride feel about the same as previous Pirelli tires. I’ll report back later after a few thousand miles.
