Hi

My car keeps on thinking it is towing and turns off the blind spot warnings. We have never towed anything yet and the tow bar is not out.

I have tried to see if there is a menu option to turn off towing but can't find anything .

Has anyone else ad had this issue and knows how to turn off the towing ?

I haven't towed before so someone else will know better but I guess to check for any messages on the touchscreen when turning out the trailer hitch electrically using the button in hatch door. Also check the button stays lighted instead of flashing without stopping when hitch comes out. Then if possible connect a trailer and electric connection to verify all is good. Finally, uncouple the trailer electrically then after putting the cover back on the ball head, pull the button in hatch to stow away the hitch again and check screen for messages and button for flashing to stop.

In other words, the car automatically goes into tow mode when hitch is out or trailer electric connection is connected. Check the cap on the electric connection is snapped closed.

* all this is a first guess of the process! Maybe ask Mercedes if you are unsure. Be interesting to know what was the reason !

Contact your dealer I have a towbar on an EQC and the warning comes up when the towbar is out and goes when it is retracted. Assuming it is a factory fitted towbar you could try lowering it and then restoring it that may clear any fault. If not then see your dealer as clearly something is giving an inaccurate reading.
If retrofitted I would suspect there is something in the wiring that is causing the issue and would speak to the party who fitted it.
