Watch MB crash test a bright orange EQC

Pre orders for the EQC started nearly a year ago and now those with one on order can get a better look at how it fares during a crash. It will still be a few months between we see any official ratings from the Euro NCAP or NHTSA. The fun starts at around the 9 min mark.

Correct me if I'm wrong but do they not use bright colors like this because they show visible damage more clearly? I don't think this is expected to be a production color.

Everything they do is done to get the best readings and measurements. That's what testing is for.
I actually wouldn't mind to see some new colors on the EQ C, but no this isn't an official production finish. You are correct that its easier to see deformations with this kind of paint. Colors like silver can hide damage because of reflections.
I'm looking forward to seeing it in anything other than the concept Silver. I'm hoping to see their Metallic Indigo or Lunar Blue.
Eventually some of those fancy S-Class colors will trickle down. EV's are just as much priority.
Silver and Blue do seem to be the go to colors for new EV buyers. Believe it or not but paint choice can also have an impact on a vehicles weight, though minor.

Being a Mercedes, aesthetics are what i'm after and on that point if we get a paint to sample option it'll do even more for us.
At some point people here will get tired of the standard and optional color options and want their own personal touch.
Vinyl wraps are a good alternative and they are much cheaper than a full repaint. Also something you could do on lease as it can be removed at any time.
they can get expensive but with so many colors and variations to choose from, its sort of worth going through the trouble. 2019 sema show is coming up, hopefully we'll see some customized electric Mercedes products on display
