Hi. I’m about to order an EQC and wanted to know how to get wireless charging for my mobile phone. It appears to be an option in the brochure, and I’ve seen a picture of it in the front console, although it is not available on the configuration tool on the MB model build page. I’m wondering if it comes with Apple Car Play? If so, then I’d assume it only comes with the Premium models?
Also, as I own an iPhone X I’m wondering if it wouldn’t work anyway as I read somewhere that it only works with an iPhone 12 🤔 Thanks for any advice.

Apple carplay is available on the premium models.

If I'm honest, it's pretty useless and a waste of money.

Realistically, how often will you use the functionality of your phone on the EQC's touchscreen?

The phone and contacts element is already integrated into the car's system via Bluetooth, which works great, so you don't need to use the Android/Apple dialer.

Whilst Google Maps is great (Apple Maps not so much 🤣) The ability to have it on a car touchscreen is neutered and to be honest pointless because of the Mercedes navigation system which is excellent and which is also integrated into the EQC's system. Include the implementation of public charging points in to the sat nav, how they're integrated with directions/routes and Mercedes Me Charge, it's actually less functional and a worse experience.

I use CarPlay every day and find it invaluable, mostly for Spotify/Calls & to dictate text messages but also very good for Teams calls

I think wireless charging is standard though, as CarPlay is via a physical connection, I may be wrong though!

Interesting all the differences between countries. We in France can only get the AMG line and even with premium plus Apple CarPlay is an additional 450 euro! Also we do not get leather that is an additional too. I am less attracted to leather and quite like the artico/dinamica combo. I currently have the nappa leather in my e and despite little use the leather on the bolster is worn and marked I would never ever pay for it as an extra. Re the charge pad I think that is pretty standard on the premium pack across countries So you need to dig deep into the premium and premium plus listings to see which one incl it But Apple car play certainly here in France is a separate standalone option and the wireless charging is not part of the package.

Just my experience that it's interesting to have CarPlay, it's not amazing.

All the functions you mentioned above are possible without upgrading.

Granted, Spotify using mbux doesn't have the flashy UI of the ios app, but it does work.

If you're primary aim is to have CarPlay, it's not worth the upgrade to Premium. I mean how much extra would you be paying just to have what is basically phone mirroring!

However, If you are intent on having CarPlay, there is an alternative. You can order AMG line (not the Premium models). Then go to the Mercedes Me Store and buy the CarPlay package.This costs £300.

Its just a software package. In my opinion expensive for what it is, however cheaper than buying Premium package if CarPlay is all you care about.

Thanks for the responses. Interesting points on the Apple Car Play. Particularly liked the tip on downloading the app from the Mercedes Me Store if I’m inclined to go for it. I’ve just borrowed an AMG Line for a week and really liked it. Had the week off so put 500 miles on the clock with lots of varied roads. It didn’t have a wireless charging mat in the console so I’m afraid I’m still none the wiser on that point though 🤷🏼‍♂️

Just checked the french configuration and it is inc in the premium pack and is not listed as a standalone Option. Have just checked the U.K. site and it is the same it comes under the premium package options. If you select the premium pack go to the configured car and look at the options list and you will see the wireless charging and Bluetooth in the U.K. you also get Apple car play which I had to pay for on top. So sadly it seems you will need to go down the premium route but frankly as it incl the burmester system it really is worth it. Had that in my last 2 Mercedes and would not not specify it but I also feel the same about the head up display. Hope this helps.

I have wireless mobilephone charger in my EQC. I thought that it would be easy way to charge phone, but...
it´s very slow, something like half slower than cable.

Also, I need to take clear cover from my mobilephone if I want that it fits to it´s place (Samsung S20Ultra).
